Hi wonder if anyone can help. We recently bought a Craftsman caravan and I can't seem to locate a vin number. It is a 1995 van (I have the original receipt for the van), but the only number I can find, which is near the door and on the windows, is an eight digit number. I was lead to believe that post 1992 this should be 17 digits. Can anyone shed any light or offer any advice? Thanks in advance. Heather

the 8 didgit number is probably the CRIS number, a database of caravans, including chassis Nos, No. berths, axles etc.

the vin No will be stamped onto a plate, along with the MIRO, and MTPLM weights, attached somwhere, usually to the chassis of the van, try the A-frame, or under where the door is, these are common places. it may be hidden under the plastic fairing if there is one on the A-frame.

Failing that pop ionto your local dealer, they might be able to tell you where the plate is

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
