I thought i would post this in case anyone was considering aa mobile home so this sort of nasty situation can be considered. (i hope that this is a one off)

7 men including two owners of a mobile home site got hefty jail sentences for terrorising residents into moving so they could make more money by selling new homes.

They even forces some of them to sell thier homes for £1 when they had bought them for £50k !

The tow brothers who owend the site were jailed for 12years each and the others ranged from 12 down to 5 years. (refreshing to see a lenghty sentence!)

Bullies.

There are many mobile home sites in that area and particularly around the Severn Valley. A few years ago there was discussion around giving tenants stronger rights, more in line with other types of tenant.   Not sure how that is going but until they change the law there is no security of tenure and people can be faced with rules that make it necessary to up grade homes every few years, move on after a set period and other problem areas.

Seems to be two types of sites, one type has a more residential type property, probably like the one in the article and other sites have only 11 month licences and their security of tenure differs greatly.

There will always be problems as the freeholders can sell up, plans and licence conditions can change affecting residents. Hopefully the authorities are getting on top of it and will make it safer for residents.

One site I remember had just a few static caravans, when it was sold, the new owners got planning permission for loads more pitches and the older residents were under similar pressure to sell up and their homes were virtually worthless and they had the cost of removal/replacement and commission to site and mobile home supplier.

Very complicated and costly.
