Holiday island Ile de faigneul is located in the beautifull surroundings of the Belgian Ardennes. The holiday island is the perfect location for hiking, fishing, kayaking, mountain biking and other outdoor sports and activities.
The water rich environment will ensures for an unforgettable holiday! The campsite offers spacious sites, with sites near the waterfront or on the middle of the campsite.
Few campsites are in sole possession of an island, and when that island lies in a beautiful tree-lined valley the site is likely to be something special. Camping Ile de Faigneul is!
This peaceful site, a real family campsite in summer, is surrounded by the River Semois and is near the small village of Poupehan in the picturesque Belgian Ardennes.
The 130 level pitches, all with 6A electricity (Europlug), on this grass covered island are all for touring units. 68 sites are located on the waterfront. There are also a few sites which are not directly located on the waterfront, but which have a free view over the water. The most beautiful view of forest and hills you will have on almost all sites.
All sites have access to electricity and free Wi-Fi. Water taps are distributed all over the terrain of the campsite.
The sites friendly owners, Alouis and Daniella van Zon-Berkes, who speak good English, took over the site a few years ago and have worked hard to return it to its present state of natural beauty. Photographs in the bar will testify to their achievements.
There are two sanitary buildings with: sufficient showers with hot water (6 minutes shower per person per day for free ), washstands and wash cubicles, family room with baby bath, washroom for disabled, kitchen sinks with warm (free) and cold water, clothing sinks with cold and warm (free) water and toilets and a chemical toilet in every building. During the low season only building (C), with floor heating, is opened. Water taps can be found spread out over the camping terrain. Al the water on our campsite can be consumed safely.
The homely bar/snack bar, with its terrace, is entirely in keeping with this comfortable, natural site.
On the sports field you can find mini-goals for soccer, a basketball net and a volleyball net. You can also find a Ping-Pong table and a petanque field.
The playground contains equipment for children of different ages: a slide, swings, carousel, seesaw, climbing rack
Dogs are always welcome on our campsite, with a maximum of 2 dogs per site and of course they need to be on a leash at all times. They dogs are allowed to play in the river as well. Across the bridge, just outside the campsite, it is beautiful to walk with your dog.
In the river you can play with boats, inflatable tires, or you can float down the stream on an air mattress. Splash around or go sunbathing on the rocks.
You can also go for a kayak trip for half a day, and bring your picnic! Fishing is allowed, but you will need a permit.
Nearby Attractions
The region has plenty to interest visitors. For the more active there are mountain bike trails to explore, rivers to descend by canoe and forests though which to ramble.
Places to visit could start with the small village of Poupehan with its slate-roofed, stone houses, then the twisting drive into Bouillon with its imposing castle overlooking the town.
France is only a few kilometres away and Sedan is an interesting town to visit.
