Lovely pitches set at an angle to avoid directly looking at other units. Water was on the pitch - not expected, so a bonus!

Great location for exploring the surrounding area, also unbelievably quiet and calming!

Downside - green port-a-cabin toilets. Not particularly dirty, just old and well used. HOWEVER the new toilet block is either now open or opening VERY soon.

We are going back in a few weeks so will update then!

The site itself was good, neatly cut grass, and spacious pitches, location was great, easy walk into the village and walks locally.

However, the toilets and dishwasher area were very poor and unclean. We arrived on the Monday to find the toilet bins over flowing and both the men and womens toilet and showers were dirty. It was obvious they hadn't been cleaned since before the weekend. The cleaner turned up on the Wednesday and was literally in both toilet and showers 6 mins, and the dishwasher area was appalling, there was an empty madri beer can in it and was still there when we left, the sink was filthy, it was obvious the cleaner hadn't touched that in a while. The rubbish bins were over flowing and dirty as well, the bin men came the morning we were leaving.

Wouldn't return, wouldn't recommend! We never saw anyone from the site in the 3 nights we were there, to make sure everything was alright.

I chose this site because it offered ehu and was adult only. There’s no on-site reception, bookings are written on a board at the entrance.

I found my pitch easily, it’s all very flat and the pitch sizes are generous.

Facilities are fine, cleaned regularly too. It’s an L shaped site with a small facilities block at each end, which houses one shower and two toilets each for ladies and gents. Bins and recycling are in the middle and waste/ grey water disposal is st one end. Most units were caravans so the pressure on facilities was not too great but I can imagine it could get a bit busy in the high season.

Location is great, so near to places I wanted to visit, and on the edge of Brompton on Swale.

It’s peaceful though the traffic of the A1M can be heard faintly in the distance.

The less good things were ; shower was a bit cramped and had no seat/ bench. Having no on-site staff felt a bit impersonal, though other campers were friendly ( of course!) and when someone did need to make contact about an issue, it was quickly sorted out.

This is a comfortable no- frills campsite, at a price that’s comparable to similar sites, which I will probably use again when I want to be in N Yorks area.

Quiet site with very little lighting, 6amp elec hook up so have to be careful when using appliances.

Site plan at entrance with your name against your pitch. Hardstanding level, site road narrow so you could see where units had to go on grass to either get on or off pitch.

Toilet showers 1 male and 1 female on part of site open.

Pub and village shop approx half a mile away with footpath next to road.

Owner on hand if help needed.

 Beautiful little site.

Absolutely immaculate but no evidence of how to pay!

Texted owner who phoned me back and arranged to have money collected next morning- someone else had been given bank details to pay.

Only one toilet/ shower for each gender but immaculate and with few of us on site it was no problem.

Large lawn area, with newly planted trees, looked great for tents, and all handy for A1.

Stopped here for 3 nights to visit the area especially Richmond which is a bit of a gem even if it is a bit hilly!

The site is pretty spacious with hard standings and nicely trimmer grass.

There is plenty of space between pitches and the washrooms always clean 1 each for men and women.

Access is easy close to the A1 and there is lots to see and do in the area with some of spectacular walks.

Pretty certain we will be back

Was wanting to find a site that was not too far away but in a nice secluded spot with somewhere to walk too so did not have to use camper van.

Such a lovely CS site away from the busy roads but near enough to the local village of Brompton on Swale where they have piblic footpaths that link to the coast to coast.

We walked the other way into Richmond via Easby Abbey, short walk on main road but then you head off down a public footpath which takes you to Easby Abbey, total walk about 50 mins one way.

The site itself is well maintained with plenty of room between hardstanding pitches, it has 1 ladies and 1 mans bathroom, both clean and with powerful showers, the lock on the ladies bathroom was broken when we got there, but I rang the site, and within 1 hr all was fixed and a new lock was on - Thank you.

Owners of site were not there on arrival but no need to be, good communication and pitch number allocated to you before hand, any issues, you just ring the mobile if you have any issues.

Have already booked to go back for 4 nights in August - Thanks for a chilled and relaxing stay.

We stayed at Millfield CS site and couldn’t believe our luck in discovering this little Jewel of a site.

It has flat grass or hard standing pitches and all amenities albeit single toilets and shower rooms, the hosts Martin and Rusty are just superb and very helpful nothing is too much trouble.

The village has everything you will need, general store sells everything, fish shop open most nights, indian and Cantonese take away and restaurants, and lovely walks,

You won’t regret staying here. 10/10 from us 👍

There are 5 hard standing pitches with a good patch of grass to the side plus a large grass area with EHU at one end of the site presumably for larger units which don't fit easily on the standard pitches.

Behind you is a large field with horses in and in front there is a grass area where tents may pitch when allowed (?) and then a lane leading up to a farmhouse etc. There was a fair number of vehicles going up and down the lane when we were staying: cars, vans, lorries, horseboxes. There is sometimes the distant hum of the A1M but otherwise fairly quiet. Facilities currently closed due to Covid-19 so can't comment on them.

The village has a PO/shop and a pub and there are two large caravan outlets(Ropers & Catterick Caravans) nearby which might be useful to visitors. Richmond is a short drive and worth a visit. Walks are possible from the site - nice one in the village along the river or drive a little way for more options e. G Easby Abbey, Yorks moors.

A few small gripes: grass too long, recycling boxes not labelled, no contact or response from owner to our text, traffic along lane. We felt £20 p. Nt was a bit steep as facilities are closed and £16-18 would be fairer but all in all a decent enough site.

Great site in Brompton. Short walk to pub, short drive to Richmond and and excellent base for Swaledale walking.

Facilities very good.

Nice large pitches.

Good access from A1.
