We rang to book a pitch 2 nights previously, and the owner (Farmer) was very friendly when we booked in on the Friday evening. We camped in the large open field. It's very spacious, and although there were some large groups of youngsters, they were very quiet, and it felt very family orientated.
There are some electric hook ups on the field, but if you're able to cope without electricity, you can pitch up anywhere on the field, and at £20 a night, great value for money for the abersoch area.
There is a washing up area but it has no fridges, freezers or electric sockets.
The toilet and shower facilities are more than adequate (and are free too!)
There is a great minibus service that stops outside the campsite which takes you to Hells Mouth beach (a half an hour walk otherwise), the ship inn Llanengan (brilliant food, served from 17. 30 on a Saturday ), and then onto Abersoch. It's a great service, and cheap too. It runs 4 times a day, and you just hail it when you see it coming!
All in all, a great place to stay for a weekend or longer!
Spent two great nights at this campsite and although it is pretty basic as we were in the big field with no electricity we had a great stay.
Fantastic for anyone with dogs as they have the freedom to be off the lead and run around to their heart's content. Recommend using the toilet block and showers in the small field rather than the camper's one in the main house as that one gets a bit messy and is less private, but other than that it is great and very affordable. Lovely setting with beaches within 5 minutes drive and a nice pub nearby too.
Stayed here with my 13 year old son on our 'annual, mother/son' camping trip. We chose the area, as my son wanted to try his hand at surfing at 'hell's mouth' beach.
Very basic site. Compared to the ones I've stayed on anyway, however despite that we had a fab time!
You can pitch anywhere in the field and there was loads of space. The shower and toilet facilities were very basic ie. a shed! If you were in the loo you could hear other people washing up and vice versa!
However, there were other showers/toilets along with a laundry room near to the farmhouse across the road. A bit more of a trek, but worth it.
The owners were very helpful, and very accommodating when we had to change our booking at the last minute.
There's no pub within walking distance. Not a problem for us, but not great when you could do with warming up after a long day surfing on the beach.
If you're looking for a quiet and basic site, in a beautiful area, then this site is perfect.
It was our first trip here. Acres of space for kids to run wild safely, excellent kite flying opportunities because of the constant wind - which was also its drawback to some extent. The site itself and the surrounding areas are very nice indeed and the facilities clean and in good working order. There plenty beaches to have a look at in the area. For surfers etc Hells Mouth is the place about 1m from the site, we also visited Black Rock Sands which is a vast open beach, plenty sand to go at, but our favourite was the beach at Llanbedrog, nicely sheltered, sandy/rocky and picturesque (great ice creams too!). If you are going in a tent, I suggest you make sure that your tent is suitable for the weather conditions it is likely to endure!
This was our first visit to this site but not the area. We were in a group camping over the BH. There are two fields, one with EHU & a larger one without. You pitched around the edge of the field in a spot of your choosing. This left a large area for ball games, kite flying etc ( plenty of wind ). The farmer did apologise for the length of the grass, the wet weather had prevented this being cut. The entrances were muddy, but the rest oh the non EHU field was remarkably firm. There are five showers, three in a block beteween the fields & two in a block in the farmyard, not far to walk, plug points in this block. The showers were electric, temp variable, plenty of space for a child as well. This block also had several fridge/freezers ( free, no ice blocks went walking ), washer £2 & a dryer £1. The facilities are not glamorous but they are clean & always had loo roll, very little queuing. We were very surprised by the amount of pitches, the site was very sparsely occupied. The farmer said that they don't like to overbook , so as not to overload the facilities! Quite a rarity for BH's. The Sun Inn in Llangian , about a mile away was visited, friendly staff, ok pub grub, served quickly for a busy weekend. Plenty of beaches around, Hell's Mouth is rocky, the bread snappers were happy with it. Our only gripe for the site, was that hot water was in short supply in the washing up room. We would happily visit this site again
There are 2 fields, the one without EHU was the largest and there was loads of space for the kids to play in the middle. Was allowed to pitch wherever we wanted. The weather had been really bad but there were no problems with drainage. Is set within a farm with plenty of sheep! Several fridges/freezers, socket for hairdryer or mobile phone charge, modern washing machine (£2) and dryer (£1). Free showers and washing up facilities, but the water wasn't always hot. There were never any queues but as previously said you do have to ignore the cobwebs. Hell's Mouth beach a 2 minute drive away and down there you can buy ice creams and burgers. We had originally planned to stay for 3 nights but the only negative thing I would say was that it is exposed and was very windy, we left a night early as the tent took an absolute battering. Price was £21 per night for 2 adults, 3 children and gazeebo but we only left it up for 1 night due to wind.
