We were given a very warm welcome by the owner who showed us to our pitch and explained where everything we could possibly need was located.
The site is beautiful and the toilet block is immaculate, modern and warm.
There's a lovely walk through an estate into Barrhill where there's a friendly little shop which does take away coffee and an all day breakfast which is excellent.
The site is very quiet as it is in a rural location but Girvan and Newton Stewart are not far away by car.
We had been looking for somewhere in the area where we could move our touring caravan to after the park we were on announced it was closing down. We looked at a few but when we saw Queensland Holiday Park it was exactly what we were looking for. Not only was it a beautiful and well laid out park it was run by a lovely and very helpful family, David and Jo. We spent a couple of weekends there in our tourer and absolutely loved the peace and quiet, not to mention the friendliness of everyone we met. The facilities were spotless, shower excellent and children's play area was perfect for our grandson. We were having a walk around the site one Sunday before returning home and noticed a static caravan for sale. David showed us around it and we ended up buying it ! I can't fault this holiday park and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. David and Jo go out of their way to make sure your stay a very happy and memorable one. Amazing place in a great part of the world with lots and lots to do. Glad we found it in the end.
Stayed in the luxury hot tub lodge for a weekend and loved it!
The owners were very friendly and welcoming, helping us with any queries we had and ensuring that we had a relaxing stay.
The park is in a beautiful remote area of Scotland within driving distance of Girvan and Newton Stewart which is well worth a visit and being able to see a clear, starry sky at night was breathtaking! The park is well maintained and tidy, with a telephone, launderette, lot of information available about the local area and things to do nearby and books/board games to borrow during your stay.
The lodge itself was spotless with modern decor and had everything we needed for our weekend. Including: a super comfy bed, dining table and sofa, freeview TV, kitchenette with everything we needed and bathroom with power shower. (the dominoes, playing cards and guide to the night sky book were a lovely touch)! We had an outdoor area separate from the rest of the park overlooking unspoiled natural scenery and farmlands with a spacious decking area, picnic table, modern cushioned seating area, sun shade, BBQ and of course the hot tub which was amazing!
I would recommend this park and in particular the hot tub lodge to anyone! I hope to return soon!
Just realised I am the last reviewer for this site! Well, we've been back, twice since my last review. This is a park with 5 star customer service! We've now tried one of the cosy new pods, very nice in the freezing snowy weather! And, after being badly let down by another campsite the owners Jo and David managed to get us into a static at very late notice. It was beautifully clean and tidy. I highly recommend this site, it's in beautiful countryside, close to many lovely attractions. The adventure playground has indeed been upgraded. It's just a lovely family friendly place to relax. Book here if you want to stay in Scotland!
Found this site on the internet and thought we'd give it a try. The owners/managers were very friendly, laid back and helpful. When we were there we were the only campers in a tent, so we basically had our pick of the available space, it only takes 5 tents anyway, and it was next to the playground which the boys loved. Unfortunately the adventure playground at the front of the site was rundown and in need of some refurbishment, but the owners were adding new play equipment to the play-park near our tent while we were there, so maybe there is a plan to refurb. The toilets, showers and wash up was clean and tidy and included in the price, we had it to ourselves. There is a campers fridge, very useful in the hot weather! We didn't use the laundry facilities, but it looked super. This site is near a lot of lovely Scottish attractions, whilst being lovely and quiet, with woods for the children to explore, it felt very safe and the owner told us with a smile 'Roaming children is a requirement!'-very refreshing we thought! The nearby village of Barrhill had a little village shop and a fabulous new children's adventure playground. We went further afield to Ayr for a larger shop, but this was no problem. Take bug spray, at times the clouds of midges were dense! There are resident peacocks, ducks and a cat. Overall we would definitely recommend this site, we're going back next year.
Great site ! Friendly welcome and great facilities. Facilities were spotless and the site was the same, a real credit to the owners. Could not have asked for more. The park is well laid out and has a lot of static caravans on the site. We met a few of the owners all of whom were very friendly. Not to far to go in to Girvan or Newton Stewart. We were warned about coming in the summer as the midgies are terrible pests, anyone got a good remedy for this? We will stay longer the next time. Thank you very much.
Just spent the weekend here and this is a lovely, well maintained site.
The area for tents is quite small (5 marked pitches)so it would be wise to book up front! Toilets and shower were kept spotless even though the rain was 'biblical' for a few hours on the Saturday. The dish wash area was clean with plenty of hot water and there is even s small fridge for campers/tourers to use.
The site is quite remote but if you are looking for some peace and quiet then this is the place. Clean, tidy, well maintained, friendly site that is well worth a visit. We will be back at some point.
What a fantastic site with the most helpful staff. Went for 3 nights, extended it to 5 and came away after purchasing a static caravan there! The kids loved playing in the adventure park and grassy area.
The toilet block and washing up area are imaculate and the whole site is well run and kept very clean and tidy.
Son was happy that there was wifi so it wasn't too much of a wrench from home for him, not that he used it much.
I would recommend it to anyone - but bring your heavy duty tent pegs!
We stayed for three nights over a weekend and were very pleased we did. A great little site where the owners can do enough to help even opening the shop on request.
Facilities are a bit basic but very clean with hot showers and water for washing up.
The site was really quiet which suited us.
The surrounding area is beautiful and there are some great walks through the Galloway forest.
Newton Stewart is good for a visit and has a Sainsburys. Girvin is a bit closer with an Asda.
Will definitely be returning to this site.
