We stayed here for a week, and what a site it is, so peaceful yet close to A46 to go anywhere, Melton mowbray is 25 mins away, Nottingham about the same,
The fishing was quiet but they could be getting ready to spawn. Having said that I caught a carp of 11lb+.
£23 inc electric, plus £5 fishing, it doesn't get much better than this.
Carl is laid back and very helpful and easy to get along with.
We didn't use the facilities as we always use our own, but they were always clean and warm.

Decided to take advantage of good weather forecast. Only 35 mins from home. Easy booking by text.
Only 1 other unit on grass electric area (there appear to be a maximum of 5) £23 per night.
Gate on to fishing lake area - very pleasant to walk around and my partner took advantage of a few hours fishing in the sun £6.
Two unisex facilities with toilet, shower (coin operated) and washbasin - basic but adequate.
No shop/pub in Widmerpool. Found a 5. 5 mile circular walk on Notts CC website Widmerpool to Keyworth - coffee shops and 2 pubs in Keyworth.
Walked to Whysall our first evening along the road verge (should have researched a footpath route instead) - The Plough pub has a sunny garden but only did food at lunchtimes (in the week). Lovely quiet site with only the sound of pheasants - would be happy to return.
A local walk info board would be useful.
The owner Carl was helpful and friendly.

Stayed here for 7 nights, very quiet, no campsite lights to bother you, when it's dark, it's dark.
It is an absolutely delightful site, sheltered on all four sides, first night it was just us, then another caravan stayed for 5 nights then back to just us.
The fishing is excellent, my biggest was a 14. 5 lb carp. But 3 others over 10 lb.
Didn't use shower as we use our own, but toilet, / shower block very clean and tidy.
Carl is friendly and helpful, but not in your face.
Very easy to get to from A46. Lovely surroundings villages, and Melton Mowbray is definitely worth a visit only 20 mins away.
Will we come back again? Definitely, it's the best 5 van site we have stayed in.

The site has ample spaced pitches with electric hookup,
Well appointed toilet / shower room (shower requires a token).
Fantastic walks from your pitch.
Great contact from the owners.
We will definitely return in the near future.
