We found this site by pure chance after getting fuel at the Auchan just up the road. We arrived at 2 pm, unfortunately the guardian was not there until 4 p. M. , so we parked at the side of the drive, had some lunch, and waited for her return.
The guardian was very pleasant and helpful.
There was a lot of space on the site, which took, Caravans, Motorhomes and Tents, there were holiday homes also on the site some of which you can rent.
Electricity available, taps nearby, and clean toilets, bins available with recycling bins.
The site was secure with a code for entry barrier and for a gate leading to the dunes and a beautiful expanse of beach.
It appeared to have a bar and somewhere for snacks, I assume that this would be open in the high season.
There was a play area for children.
We did not venture far from the site except along the beach.
There was a bus stop right outside the site and Tourist Information next door, which again wasn't open.
You could stay on the site until 12 p. M mid day, so no worry about finding somewhere to bide your time until your due time at the port.
It took us about 10 minutes to get to the ferry terminal and departure from the site.
We are so pleased to have found this site after so many years,
It's a pity it isn't more widely advertised, we did find it afterwards in a French campsite book but it is not under Calais it is under Sangatte.
I echo everything Berriow says about this site and it was his?her mention of it in a previous thread last year that drew my attention to it. As said it is a perfect camp site for a first or last night if you are travelling via Calais or Dunkerque. We were using the latter and it took us 35 minutes to get there from the site in the morning.
It is a roughly 50/50 mixture of statics and touring pitches. Both occasions we used it there were plenty of vacant pitches. It is a very tidy site, well maintained and well manned. If feels totally secure, not that that is something I have ever worried about. There is a barrier which you get a code for, you also get a code to open/close the gate to the beach. We had a lovely walk across the dunes and down across the seeming miles of sand.
Our pitch was very generous as are most of them from what I could see. The grass was cut and in very good condition. It was windy both years but there are plenty of shrubs to break the wind.
The sanitaires are in one newish block. (I even took a photo! I am thinking of starting a list of sanitaires with photos, I have quite a few). They were spotlessly clean, warm and there was loads of really hot water.
Bleriot Plage has bars, cafes and shops, just down the main street from the site there is a small Carrefour City, bit like a small Waitrose. Very smart but not particularly expensive. And of course the huge Auchan 10 minutes away where we also bought fuel.
This site deserves a review because so many people are looking for an overnight stay as they arrive or leave France. There really is no need to pay fancy prices at Bien Assise or Gandspette. Here is a perfectly clean, safe, straightforward, no frills alternative for that sort of short stay.
It's easy to find by heading westwards away from the ferry port along the beachfront road. It's within walking distance of cheapish restaurants for an evening meal (though there are better ones in the city). It's less than a mile from a big Auchan hypermarket, and has direct access through a pedestrian gate to the biggest beach you have ever seen. Great for kids to run and let off steam.
It's a popular site with local people who keep caravans here for the whole summer, but surprisingly little used by the UK cross channel visitors. So it deserves an up to date review by one of this year's (few) visitors. When we used to cross via Calais we always stopped here.
