 The campsite on Knoydart has to be set in one of the most spectacular parts of Scotland, nestled in at the end of Loch Nevis, a 30 min passenger ferry trip from Mallaig.
Tommy the ranger has been improving the site from just a bare field to a very pleasant area to camp. This is real wild camping and the addition of a communal hut, various tables with chairs, stand pipe and composting toilet were very carefully thought out and required the approval of the Knoydart Foundation. I think they got it just right as the structures blend in well to the surroundings and don't distract from the natural beauty of the place.
This is a wild, remote area (called the Rough Bounds of Knoydart) and demands respect so don't expect to find a campsite in the true meaning of the word. There are no frills here but it is well worth the effort to get here, you certainly wont be disappointed.
