Booked two pitches in August 2015 and Jo problem getting two together. On arrival the lady in reception was really helpful and a bubbly character. We were able to choose the pitches which suited us best and as we both had twin axle caravans we chose two in the middle of the site. The ones around the edge of the touring area looked a bit smaller but we could probably still have fitted an 8m caravan on them. All are hard standing concrete base wide enough for your caravan and bordered by grass. Make sure if you're putting up a awning you park as close to the grass as possible so you can get the awning pegs into the grass.
The site is across the road from the beach the touring area is about a 10 - 15 minute walk through the statics to get to it.
There is no dedicated dog walk are on site but they're welcome on the beach.
Nothing to do with the site but we were under the impression that the Ayrshire coastal path was close by or actually ran through the site. In reality the Ayrshire coastal path (if it exists!) is poorly signposted and not really what we've seen on other coastal routes. The odd sign appeared here and there but certainly not able to follow any obvious route. According to the web in uses minor roads tracks and pavements if you can find them.
We tried a couple of other walk in the area that we found on the web such as one starting around the Holloybush Inn in the village of Hollybush but again no signage made it impossible to follow. Print off any directions for your walks in this area before you go! Unfortunately we only had the I pad and no print facilities.
Culzean Castle was worth a visit as was Glentrool in Galloway forest park. Which does have signed routes!,
Only negative about the site is 40p for the shower although reception always had some 20ps and the road noise. Take ear plugs.
We had a lovely overnight stay. The toilets and showers were immaculate and excellent laundry and dishwashing facilities. It's position is ideal for walking into village, harbour and Culzean Castle and grounds. The wardens were very welcoming and helpful. Children's playpark is amazing with activities for all ages. Maidens has a lovely beach and is only 1 mile from Turnberry for golfers. Village has a lovely wee shop with cafe also good fish restaurant. Only negative is road noise from main road but not a particularly busy road. This would not stop me returning next year.
