This proved to be one of the best campsites we stayed in during our two weeks travelling around Norfolk and Suffolk, It was quiet, conveniently located and had some wonderful walks nearby, along the riverbank and along very quiet lanes. We brought a small 2. 3m boat with us and found several places within a short drive to be able to drop it into the river for some memorable trips.
The campsite itself is pretty level, had the best toilet/shower we experienced on our trip - generously sized for once. Being a five van campsite was lovely, meaning that at no time did we feel cramped, indeed the opposite as the field is large and whilst we were all located to one side we had a great outlook over the field.
The campsite is very well kept. The shower/toilet was always immaculately clean, the power and water supplies were very close to hand and there were very good waste facilities with a large bin by the gate for general refuse, a place to put glass, and a bin for other recyclables. The owners were delightful, friendly and helpful.
We initially made the mistake of accessing the site from 45 The Street (their house) which was possible as we only have a 5. 4m campervan but we should have read the directions more carefully as the access into the field is from (as the other review states) the road called Kings Dam which may have a different postcode to the house. This access is wide and easy.
Staying here we felt safe and well cared for. Recommended.
Quite a new site which I think is still a work in progress; it has a lovely shower and loo, but for £20 per night in winter there should be hardstandings, it had been raining when we arrived but dried out quite well thereafter.
The site is easy enough to find following the instructions; the entrance is actually in King's Dam which runs parallel to The Street, which is the house address. There is a security gate with a coded padlock, but this was not locked at all during the week that we were there so still had to put the locks on the caravan.
Dog rules are quite relaxed, they are allowed to be off lead on the site so long as they don't chase the 5 rare breed chickens.
It's a good walking area, along the river at Beccles, on the marshes, and the coast is not far away. Shops are close by, Morrisons on the outskirts of Beccles with fuel, Tesco a bit further into the town.
There didn't seem to be anywhere to put rubbish and recycling, overflowing bin by the house and an overflowing skip, there should be bins on the site. That said, on the last day the owner took away our recycling but no idea where he put it.
I'm sure it is lovely in the summer, but should have some bins which are regularly emptied.
