A bit of an eccentric site run by the local church, and we were so glad we came. Definitely book/ring before you head there. It is a small field and the edges are taken up by statics and long term tourers so the only 'daily' space available is in the centre. That meant it felt a bit full but it has everything you need. You need to book in at the Manse and speak to the Reverend who was very helpful. Facilities are what is needed and no more - clean loos and showers, accessible water and electric points (though a long cable could be needed). The site is at the back of the sand dunes and whilst you can't see the beach from the field there is direct access through and down some wooden steps to the beach. The village has a good general grocery store (we walked to it along the beach)and an expensive restaurant with a good reputation (which we didn't try) and a very professional visitor centre. We got into the latter free on presentation of the loo-block key from the site.
It may not be for you if you require fancy facilities and perfectly parked lines of caravans and tents but we thoroughly enjoyed our one night stop off and would thoroughly recommend it as a site with a difference.

An eccentric campsite run by the Free Church of Scotland - no arrivals or departures for caravans on a Sunday! Set right on the beach. Facilities minimal but adequate; hook ups need a l-o-o-o-ong cable.
Avoid it in high season, especially the Portmahomack Gala, when it is crowded with noisy children and jolly, friendly drunks.
Local pub. 3 out of 10. Local posh restaurant - very, very expensive.
Would we (who like CL/CS sites) go again? No.

On arrival you will receive a friendly welcome up at the manse where you will be charged £10 deposit for the toilet key which is deducted from your pitch fees when you return it at the end of your stay.
The pitches are VERY limited, when we visited they all appeared to be seasonal with only 2 units occupied and no EHU available so I would advise booking before you arrive.
The toilets were basic but clean with 2 showers in each.
There was a fresh water tap but I didn't see any chemical waste point so it you intend staying for a while best to find out before hand.
The location is simply stunning with direct access to the beach from the site.
The village itself is very picturesque and you can walk along the beach from the site to the post office which doubles as a little store with limited supplies.
Tain is only 7 miles away where you will find a well stocked Co-op.
In these days of top spec facilities and 5 star sites I would rate this as one step above wild camping which is most definitely not meant in a bad way, it was a pleasure to get back to basics and for £7 per night well worth it.
Should you choose to visit please be respectful of the fact that you are on Free Church of Scotland land and no enquiries, arrivals or departures are welcome on Sundays.
Both me and the OH were simply enchanted by the site and the area and will most definitely return.
