We have visited this site on numerous occasions and have always received a very warm welcome from either Joy or Cheryl and John. The site itself is spotless and very nicely laid out, even though there are no toilets or showers, but in this day and age I don't think this is too much of a problem unless you're in a tent. The quiet of the site is wonderful, just birdsong or cattle lowing are the only sounds. The canal is just down the road and a walk along the towpath can be rewarded with an excellent meal in The Radley Boat Stop where you can watch the narrow boats pass by at the end of the beer garden. A lovely campsite in a lovely part of the country. Highly recommended.

Here is a update for everyone out there, I rang to book in for the weekend 1/10/11 having read a few reviews, all went well and the lady was very helpful.
I was told it was £10 per night with EHU which is very good but when I asked about toilets etc I was told there was NO amenities
There is a waste disposal on site but no toilets, showers, fridges etc

Called in for stop over - rang about 7pm - owner directed us from A50 and came to meet us - lovely friendly lady, very helpful
There's two pitching area's - smaller one is just inside the entrance - we were in the large meadow with plenty of room
Facilities are in a barn - everything is there - shower - loo - wash up - microwave - fridge. All pretty basic
For Geo's there's plenty on the other side of A5, just a short drive away
Happy to use the site again

The site owner very polite and helpful, the site maintenance chap did seem rather kirk.
The entry and exit from Sinfinn Lane over the railway and river bridge and right turn onto Moor Lane is fairly tight you need to wait for traffic from Deep Dale Lane or Sinfinn Lane depending which way you are travelling.
The site is very good for a base for the those visiting the area, plenty of room and quiet.
No noise from the A50 but some late/early noise from East Midlands air traffic during 1 night
Facilities are in a barn all very very basic there was one toilet, one shower cubicle and one sink to service the whole site. The same sink was also the only means available for dishwashing. These facilities were all housed in the same room alongside the owners cat food and cat bowls, a diesel tank, a boiler not what you want to see on even a basic site. The facilities are very dirty
If like us you are prepared to use your own facilities its a great little site
There are some nice walks along the canal and through the villages
The pub along Deep Dale Lane advertise good midday meal deals but didn't seem to be open although there appeared to be plenty of staff in the building (so why did they not show the way in???) perhaps they didn't need business

We camped at this site for the weekend of the Moto GP. The camping area for tents is quite small whilst a huge field is given over to caravans, of which there were only about six or seven. There was one toilet, one shower cubicle and one sink to service the whole site. The same sink was also the only means available for dishwashing. These facilities were all housed in the same room alongside the owners cat food and cat bowls, a diesel tank, a boiler and various electric cables one of which ran across the top of the shower cubicle. Not only were the facilities dirty there was absolutely no hot water the entire weekend, and due to the site being busy everyone was having to queue to use the toilet. We had intended to stay three nights but left after two as we were so disgusted. The owners were away but had they been there we, and many others on site would have been complaining.

We stayed on this lovely certificated site for a long weekend. The site owner couldn't have been more helpful, able to accommodate 5 units at short notice. There is a toilet and a shower housed in a barn - basic but perfectly adequate and the shower was lovely and hot once the water got through! We stayed on a large meadow with hook up and water taps. There is also a smaller camping area closer to the farm buildings. There are some nice walks along the canal and through the villages and The Crew and Harpur Pub (about a miles walk along the canal and into the village of Swalkstone) does good food. Ale, and borders the River Trent. Would definitely return for a getaway weekend.
