3 Reviews of the 2 Seconds Easy Fresh & Black

By: Number1barber  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2024   Rating:

I have used one for 4 motorbike rallies in rain wind and hot sun. Brilliant bit of kit if its raining and you have to setup fast as it up super quick and I often don't use guide ropes just pin the 4 corners and the 2 sides. Getting in when its raining has good and bad points. No crawling in just butt in and shut the first door then remove your boots leaving them in the side area and pull you legs in and shut the second door. But as there is no overhang when you open the first door rain will go in. Its my go to tent despite owning a 4.1 arpenaz blackout. I cant dry the arpenaz as it 14ft long. The 2 seconds being free standing can be popped up anywhere to dry out including indoors

PROS:

Better height and shape than popups

Super fast setup

You can buy a bigger side porch adding extra space but its £65.

Door each side ideal for 2 people or hot days

Small porch each side for extra storage or wet boots.

Can fit camp beds like redcamp with legs due to height

When combined with a camp bed with legs has storage under bed

Bag is very oversized so is very easy to pack away

No figuring out how to pack it away like normal tents

CONS:

Its 3x more expensive than a blackout pole tent

Much heavier and bulkier than a 2 man pole tent

I have heard the porches pack very small and I would get 2 but at the price they are im looking for used ones but they are hard to find. A small tarp and 4 poles over the top with guide lines would work but would mean you have to crawl to the door and your not getting extra storage space as you don't get doors with a tarp. Really for 2 person camping I would go with the arpenaz 4.1 as pack size is not much bigger. Its an ideal tent for motorbikes or cars but not for hiking. For solo its really nice. By the time friends have got their tents out and are unfolding them mine is up.

Used mine twice now, Isle of White and Glastonbury festivals 2023.

Very easy to pitch and put away, might be a bit of a squeeze with two but plenty of room for one even with a canvas bed.

The darkness inside the tent even in bright sunshine is excellent for daytime sleeping. Still gets warm, but nowhere near as oven-like as most tents in direct sunlight.

Only had a few fairly heavy showers in it so far and no sign of rain getting in.

I cut an old tarp to fit (roughly) as a footprint for added protection and to keep side stored items off the ground.

Overall, excellent if you don't like hanging around and don't trust yourself to put away a normal pop-up!

As above, 9/10 as not really tested yet in proper camping rain.

What a great tent - it really couldn't be easier to put up and take down. The first time took us a little longer than the 2 seconds stated, but only because we had to attach the guy lines. Videos for both setting up and striking the tent can be found on the Decathlon website.

To set the tent up you literally just pull on the two cords - one at either end of the tent - position it as you please and peg it down. It really is as simple as that. The pegs and guy ropes are to be found in separate little pockets in the storage bag.

So far the tent has only accommodated one (6'3 and strapping) adult and was more than adequate space-wise. The little extras such as the built in drying line and suspension loop for a lamp are nice touches, with some additional useful pockets for organising your bits and bobs.

The black interior really does keep the light out and the reflective surface does a fantastic job of keeping the inside of the tent cool and there are a couple of vents at the top of the tent, just above the door openings.

Packing it away is just as easy as setting it up. Simply remove the pegs, press the buttons located at the cord pull points and fold/roll it up.

The tent packs away into a small roll sack rather than into the disc-shape of most other pop-ups and yes, it is on the heavy side if you are hiking, but if camping by car it takes up very little space and at roughly the same width as a rolled up sleeping mat or most panniers on a motorbike or even push bike it makes it pretty portable.

The tent has not yet been used in wet conditions but with a hydrostatic head rating of 2000 for the fly sheet and 5000 for the ground sheet I am confident it will do the job nicely.

All in all great little tent and the only reason I haven't given it a 10/10 rating is that we haven't yet used it in the wet.
