A neat tent. Easily pitched and struck in minutes. Roomy inside and nicely made with good materials. The bathtub groundsheet is a little thin but I had the deal from Halfords with an extra footprint groundsheet and a 'carpet' - well picnic type rug really, which doubles as a big picnic rug.
Halfords were good to deal with. I never anticipate getting bargains there but this time they had some good deals. Our local store did not have one pitched but there was a sign inviting customers to ask a member of staff to demonstrate the 1 minute pitching. I asked and even found myself drawing a finger under the text of the invitation but my request was obviously thought so bizarre by the assistant that it was not even met with a shake of the head, just sullen, silent refusal. That's my Halfords!
We took it for 3 days in Cornwall in hot dry weather. It was breezy but the tent stayed put. We had a windbreak to make a bit of an enclosure and overall it felt like staying in a bigger tent. There was plenty of room for 2, any more would not be comfortable. I agree that a tarp to make an awning would have been an improvement had the weather turned.
Despite the hot daytime temperatures, it was cool at night. There was condensation, but not a problem.
The tent has, however been returned, I hope not unfairly. That is why I give only 5/10 for an otherwise well-made and designed tent.
I would welcome comment on my finding as I may buy another. The tent hangs from fasteners attached to an external frame. The weight is designed to be taken by 8 of these hangers. However, on our tent, most of the weight seemed to be taken by just 2. The others were relatively slack.
After a couple of days, the seams on the tight hangers were strained so much, we could see daylight through the stitching. I returned the tent because had it rained, water would get in and I could anticipate failure of the seams shortly after.
I don't think the problem with tensioning was mine. The pitch was fairly level and I tried everything by way of moving the frame legs, adjusting the guys and so forth. Oddly enough, lots of people have commented on the zip to the door and how it sticks at the curved part of the 'J'. Our tent did that too and care had to be taken. However one of the hangers taking the weight was directly above that point(the other was at the opposite corner).
Perhaps I had a bad tent with shorter hangers, perhaps it is a design flaw. I think I may wait for the 2014 version before buying again.
Thinking about it, the attachment at the very centre of the legs was very loose, perhaps tightening that would help. Had I kept it, some spacers between the slack hangers and the frame might have equalled out the weight.
One unrelated recommendation to report, we took a Kampa high-backed low chair - a beach chair, which was very comfortable indeed and I can give a strong recommendation to that.
We bought Vango self-inflating matresses from Halfords. These were a great success and every bit as comfortable as a bed and much superior to lilo type inflatable beds.
Halfords were very good about it and took the tent back without question for a full refund.

For once an 'instant' tent that lives up to it's claims! Managed to get it from bagged to fully erect in 56 seconds including pegging and guying single handed. Probably the first time We have been camping without a shouting match whilst putting the beast up resulting in two days of huffy silence.
On the con side it really does need a flysheet of some description. We utilised the one from our old Gelert Twister 5 which does the trick surprisingly well but needed a few inches of padding between the the tent and flysheet.I'm working on something a bit more elegant than a folded up cushion tied to the tent poles at the apex. Maybe the Twister 4 would be a better fit.

This is really a follow up from my original review. I was so taken with my mate George's one that I got one myself (as did Krazycamper!).
My reason for buying it (apart from the 20% discount at GO!) is to use it for quick one/two nighters or multi pitch trips where pitching my full set up wouldn't be practical.
It really does pitch in a minute and the bag is big enough not to have to wrestle it back in at the end of the trip when it is soaking wet and chucking it down!
My door zip is a wee bit tight at the bend but not enough to cause concern.
I havent tested it in Glen Coe but if its anything like the other two I have seen then I have no worries performance wise.

What a fantastic little tent this is! So quick and easy to pitch. Takes less than a minute then you guy out the ropes. We bought this tent after seeing it pitched on a campsite and how easy it really was to put up and take down. It comes with a bag that you can actually fit the tent into.
I would say that it comfortably sleeps two adults or one adult and two kids. The weekend we used it, we had a mixed bag of weather (even frost one morning!) and it stood up no bother at all. We never had any issues with leaking either although there was some condensation inside the tent which is to be expected.
As previously mentioned, the door is an upside down J shape. We also had a little issue with the zip sticking. Because of this, I'm rating the tent 9/10. Overall, a fantastic addition to our larger tents which will come in very handy for those short stay trips when we don't wish to take all our camping gear with us!

Superb tent - very easy to erect & put down - we had ours up in less than a couple of minutes.
As newcomers to camping & having made the mistake of buying a cheap tent from Tesco (never again!) we decided a pop-up tent was the way to go.
Having carried out some research, most conventional pop-ups don't have much headroom & looking at many reviews for some of the popular manufacturers, the popular consensus was that it can be a bit of a faff putting them back down.
With the Instant Tourer it's so easy to to put up and back down that it can easily be done by one person.
There's plenty of space, but as is common with many manufacturers, although they say it will fit four, in my opinion it will be a very tight fit and only achievable if you intend to sleep on matts.
In any event, this isn't an issue for us as it will only for the two of us & two dogs.
The headroom is quite good & I'm six foot (although I can't quite stand straight it's more than acceptable).
Unlike the other review here, we had no issues with the zip & the quality is very good.
For ease of use, size & weight it wins on all points.
We paid £125 including delivery it's worth shopping around, and for once, ebay couldn't beat other online stores.

This tent is the smaller brother of the Coleman 'Instant 4'. The 'Instant Tourer 4' only has 4 poles rather than the 6 found on the 'Instant 4' and is a lot smaller. Some retailers are still confusing the two tents! The tourer is ideal for one person using a full size camp bed,(or 2 using SIM's) with room for a small table and chair plus kit. I am 5ft 8in and I can 'almost' stand up straight but the design of the tent, with the poles externally placed, gives the impression of a much larger area (2.4m*2.4m square, 160cm height).
This is a friends tent but I pitched it, set it up and put it away with him. It certainly was a very quick pitch. It uses a unique steel pole spider-like frame system which looks rather strange to start with but we filmed it while pitching and it took under 1 minute to get it up (still had to guy it out though), so very impressed.
The quality is such that I am considering one myself for a one nighter or multi pitch trip. It stood up to some heavy rain and some fairly high gusts of wind without any problem and even although it is a single skin tent, it suffered very little condensation. The venting system consists of 2 cowls on the roof held open with a vlecro'd retaining strap and a large half panel at the rear which can be zipped open (with a zipped mozzie net) from the inside or outside.
The only door is an upside down 'J' and the zip tended to jam at the curved section. Strangely, it freed up when the tent was in the rain! It may free off with time as the material settles.
It is held firm by 4 corner pegs, 4 mid way pegs and 4 guy lines. The tent performed really well in the wind but if I had any concerns it would be with the way the upright poles extend. Each individual pole telescopically extends to full length and is held in place with a spring loaded button. IF the pole was to be bent (and I say if), I would worry that it might not contract back in properly, making packing it away impossible.
In summary, it has very few negative points and many positives! The quick pitch system worked far better in reality that I thought it would and I give it 9 out of 10 simply because of the small problem with the zip.
