I've never reviewed anything online before, but feel compelled to do so.
We bought this tent to replace our Montana 6 (2007) which had been fantastic - but unfortunately had begun to leak. We figured we were better to keep all our extras (carpet, footprint, canopy, awning!), and just replace the tent.
We saw this Montana for a really great price online, so ordered it. We were so disappointed.
Irritatingly, what used to come as standard, Outwell seem to call 'Premium' now. For example, our old 2007 model was Outtex 5000mm - the new 'Deluxe' version is only 4000. And we could tell - the fabric felt much thinner and flimsier. Other bits such as the groundsheet and stitching also felt of a much poorer quality.
The poles were also of a poorer quality than we were used to - they didn't seem to stay in once put together, which of course then affected the pitching of the tent.
And a small thing, but our 2007 model came with a trolley bag, whereas this 2013 version just has a carry bag.
Some of the design features are strange too - the windows no longer have mesh, which we had been used to with our old model. And as for the front door - ridiculous! It's now so high that I was unable to open and close it! (I'm 5ft 4).
Luckily for us, we found a huge tear in the fabric, so were able to return the tent (from Allweathers, whose advice and service was fantastic).
Far enough, maybe you get what you pay for - but the tent was still not cheap. It's made us hesitant about buying another Outwell tent, as it seems they now want customers to pay through the nose for something that should be standard - good design and quality finish.
