This is a fantastic little tent and very easy to put up. Brought for a 10 year old about to move into Scouts and hopefully Explorers from there so wanted something that was going to last the course. This tent is well made and the poles are really light weight and easy to insert. At just of 3kg in weight it is not too heavy for back packing. Pegs are not too bad either.

There is plenty of space in the tent for 1 person but with 2 it starts to get cosy with all your kit.

Overall a great tent that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

There is nothing to fault this tent and everything to praise. Two of us have used this travelling Europe and around Wales.

It is light, easy to put up, even by a novice like me. Easy to take down and pack. It withstands very strong winds and torrential rain without affecting your comfort beyond the noise of the weather. The temperature seems to be constant, good ventilation, not stuffy.

Everything just perfect!

I bought this last year as I needed a backpacking tent for my girlfriend and I and our packs as we didn't both fit in my banshee 200.And didn't want to spend a fortune. I've used it on 2 long distance walks and a few weekends with the car and I really can't fault it. Its easy enough to pitch, although do take the time to get it totally square and tight otherwise the inner and the outer can easily touch. Getting the porch pole in also is a bit of an art, although it gets easier the more you use the tent I've found. For 2 people and kit its very spacious, especially the porch design, easy to cook in the porch if you are careful. Will stand up to anything if you use the tension bands. I got mine for £90, for a tent just over 3 kilos for 2 people plus gear you can't go wrong. Crucially you can split the weight of this almost 50/50 - I know other backpacking tents where this isn't possible and one person has to carry more. Mine doesn't have a porch groundsheet but I think newer models do, I personally don't mind not having one. All in all, speaking as someone who owns 4 tents this for the money is a great buy if you need a backpacking tent on a budget. I intend to get a lot more use out of mine.

Absolutely brilliant tent - fit for purpose! I am an expedition assessor for the Duke of Edinburgh Award and usually have the luxury of a small motor-home for my leisure camping but for shear space and ease of pitching I find the 300 a dream! When my Saunders Basecamp finally gave in to the elements (after 30 years!) I scoured the press for a replacement and settled on the Tempest - a decision I do not regret for one moment. The tension band system makes the outer VERY rigid in strong winds. There is ample ventilation and more than enough living space for an old codger like me who likes to 'spread out'! I use the 'Super' pegs from ALPKIT.Com for pitching on almost any ground you care to mention! Well done (again) Vango.

This tent is great! I have used it on several camping trips with my two young sons (6&5). It is simple to pitch; I can pitch it on my own in a few minutes and it is rock solid once it is up. The alloy poles along with the tension band system ensure that the structure stays put in strong winds and the whole kit only weights 3.2Kg.

So far there have not been any leaks; however I did get wet through condensation on my very first outing because I did not open the rear vents (my fault). The rear vents are held open with a curved wire that I have to twist in their sleeves (see photos). The front Venturi vent works well ensuring that there are no drafts and the tent remains snug, the outside temperature dipped to 4 degrees one night and I didn’t need my sleeping bag zipped up. I would recommend if it is not to cold or windy leaving the top of the outer door open slightly to aid ventilation (especially with three people).

The tent would fit three adults very snugly although there would not be any room for gear if they are all tall except for the porch area which is also the access point so it is very limited. It makes more sense as a two berth for adults with backpacking gear. I don’t have any problems with sleeping space even thought I am 6’2.

I paid £85 for it new, bargain.

The kids love it too.

I owned and used the Tempest 200 for awhile and although an excellent tent I decided to upgrade to the Tempest 300 for the extra height, being that I am 6' 2' and couldn't sit up near the porch.

I have been on many trips with the Tempest 300 and in all weathers and it is 'Brick' solid.I use the tension bands in really stormy weather and this tightens the tent to resist the strong winds.

It has plenty of ventilation both to the rear of the tent and at the front which has a canopy that can be un clipped in fine weather.

Internaly ,the inner tent has ample storage pockets and attachments to hand a lantern.

I have had/tried many tents over my years as a camper and this is one of the best tents I have had.It is reliable and very easy to erect and for the price which I paid £90 new,Its a bargain.

Its 'faff' free and roomy.I say that as there is just myself in it but I like lots of floor space.

The door on the fly sheet can be opened in wet weather but toggled at the top to stop rain getting in which is a nice touch.

If I were to change anything on this tent,I would have preffered the flysheet to have been made out of Rip stop nylon.Although this doesn't distract from this being an excellent tent-Thank you.-Ray Thornton
