1 Reviews of the Chinook Ursa

By: Hottoptent  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2022   Rating:

Top end tent. Incredible to use with a wood stove. Easy to pitch and the materials are excellent. I was concerned when robens have rated this as 65% polyester and 35%cotton. I thought it would be nearer the tc, technical cotton nonsense, but this is nice and thick. I've owned some Outwell polycotton tents, wolf lake, Montana and the niagra falls, and was concerned the material here wouldn't compare. It does, very nice.

Craftsmanship is excellent, this will last years if looked after well. I got into hot tents because of you tube, the algorithm clocked me and what I like before I even new what a hot tent was. Then all I saw was one tigris tents, the rock fortress which is polyester, smaller, no groundsheet is about 280 on amazon. The northgaze canvas is about the same price. Ive owned both, didnt like them. Cool as to have a stove in a tent, but no groundsheet or inner. Mental, and not comfortable at all. I picked this up for 429 new, which is a huge amount for a 4 man tent admittedly, (it claims six, but we all know thats nonsense)but this is world's apart from anything one tigris do. The tent pole is incredibly sturdy, it's way more spacious inside and the overall quality of finish is just a pleasure to camp in.

The only gripe, coming from the older Outwell tents is the groundsheet, in the wolf lake, niagra, its basically like a thick rubber, whereas this is a bit thinner, still 10000hh apparently, but doesn't feel as strong. But no one does groundsheets as thick as the old Outwells anymore. Also, blew my mind, but you can fit a euro hike double inflatable at the rear of this, you could have 4 people and a stove in this no problem. Terrible review, I apologise, but this tent is fantastic and I keep losing my thread, although I doubt the tent will. Sorry, horrific pun.

Manufacturer's Description

The Chinook Ursa sleeps up to eight making it an excellent quick-to-pitch group base. The tipi features zip-close gussets that, when undone, allow the whole front to be opened using poles converted from the door’s A-frame. This fully reveals inside and creates a shaded living space from which to socialise and enjoy views out on sunny days − this Bedouin-style is especially appreciated in hot climes. The neat Internal Apex Vent Control is simple to adjust from inside.
