9 Reviews of the Morpheus 8

Having pitched our tent and extension in high winds, the poor design of the extension soon became apparent. The rope simply pings off leaving the extension flapping. We simply bought some small hand clamps ( a bit like giant pegs) and clamped the extension using 8 clamps to the outside pole. This worked a great a despite howling winds and torrential rain the extension stayed put and water tight. This tent has masses of space and is easy to put up once you have mastered the instructions!

We bought this tent last year, and totally love it! Absolutely tonnes of space-and quite cosy too with the sewn in ground sheet. I would totally recommend one of these.

We did struggle a little putting it up for the first time, but since then have watched you tube videos of how to, and we were doing it totally wrong! Well worth watching first.

The only slight issue was the porch extension is not great to attach, but again some people have posted good ideas on how to.

Another slight problem is some sites can be a it tricky to find a pitch as it has such a large footprint! But that's well worth putting up with for the amount of room you get.

We are a family of 5 and took my daughters two friends away last year and there was plenty of room, even on the rainy days.

We had an absolute deluge one night and no worries about leaks or anything.

So to sum up, this is a superb tent, especially as you can get them quite cheap these days. Loads of room, practically laid out and usually the biggest tent on site!

Upgraded to this from an Outwell hartford xl and I cannot help but be impressed by this!

Fantastic space and coped amazing under severe weather conditions (high winds and high density of rain).

It's one of the biggest tents on the market and its pretty awesome.

Many people walked past with tent envy and at £350 for tent, extension and carpet from Rutland Outdoor it was mega value.

Well worth the money and really looking forward to camping next year.

What an excellent buy! We have 6 children so we filled this tent to capacity and also slept guests in the middle area. Due to the sewn-in groundsheet the tent was cosy and warm and wind/rain proof. Though due to the sheer size it can be pretty noisy (almost scary) when the wind picks up. We camped for a week and the weather was interchangeable from torrential rain and high winds to sunny (even hot) weather.

Pitch: The tent went up easily, with four people, within 30 mins top. It is a heavy tent and we found it easier to ‘walk the tent out’ with a person on each corner (a footprint may have made this easier). There are limited instructions but we didn’t find that too much of a problem. The only time we ran into difficulty with the lack of information was when we needed to troubleshoot the porch.

The tent fitted all the luggage and table and chairs to fit 8 around comfortably for rainy-day meals and activities. There are lots of pockets for bits and bobs and the tent lets in plenty of light with large windows. We found the designated little pockets underneath the windows great to pop the curtains in, instead of spending half a morning rolling them all up! There are handy little places to hook lights up and Velcro to keep the wires in order, just don’t forget to buy some little hooks…they will come in handy.

Extras: Carpet was cosy and a good fit. Wish we had taken a small, portable dust buster though! We bought the porch to keep the kitchen area dry and secure. It makes this area huge and more than adequate to cook and socialise in. Unfortunately the porch is VERY ill fitting. We already knew this was the case before we purchased the tent and prior to the maiden voyage tried in vain to make adjustments, with clips and extra guys to secure it. No chance! High winds and it will come away and may leak in rain.Don’t let this put you off, the porch is an extra not an essential. We didn’t have a footprint, but can fully see the benefits of having one, as the tent covers a large area.

Packing up: We found it quite tricky, hindered by the wet weather, to pack everything back in the bags. My ever-patient-and-somewhat-heavy-handed-husband who can usually pack a tent into a bag smaller than the tent itself, lost his rag and used other means to get the tent home.It needed a good drying out anyway…even in good conditions it was a tight fit getting it back in its bag.

The campsite had no trouble with the size, and it fits nicely within the designated parameters. All in all, an excellent tent with great potential, hardy, good looking and great value for money!

This tent is excellent. Just back from our first trip and absolutely loved the size of it. There was only me and the hubby and dog but I love space so it was perfect and not cold either as I thought with there been so few people in it it would feel cold but it was ok.

It was really easy putting it up although it was a bit windy so took us longer than our practice pitch . I love the porch space for cooking but the fitting of the porch was not great. It was fine at first but the windier it got the worse it got. It fit the sides great but the top of it would not stay over the top of the extension, bit of a design fault as you really need the porch to cook in if the weathers bad but all your equipment would be wet through because the rain would get in. We took it down the night before we left as it was really windy. We are going to get it adapted by putting the same clips on the top seam as it has down the sides to clip it to the pole because we don't want to not use the porch as it was one of the main reasons we got it.

But overall a fantastic tent and can't wait for the next trip. Would have given it a ten if the porch was fitted better.

First, the good news. If you want a spacious tent with plenty of space this tent needs to be in your short list. We are a family of six, albeit four of us are six and under. We only use three of the four internal bedrooms but will grow into the fourth. Lots of room for family games up front. Bad news. If you break a brow pole no where stocks a replacement. I am also on my third replacement. Not one has been un damaged out of the bag. Maybe that's bad luck.

This tent has the worst instructions imaginable - they are mostly a few pictures, so the first time we put it up was awful and took nearly 2 hours - admittedly we had 3 children 'trying ' to help so they added time < least thats what my husband says. Packing away was easy though - it fit back into the bag beautifully and we recommend getting the floor print so you stay clean.

Inside its spacious and the little pods for sleeping in are great - we're a family of 5 and I think we will grow up in the tent with ease. Brilliant buy.

HUGE tent that ticked all the boxes. Coming from a Sprayway Valley 8 we wanted another large tent that could accommodate a family of 5 but this time we wanted more space out front by way of a canopy. Nearly opted for the Hi Gear Corado 8 but with insect hating daughters a SIG AND doors that fully zip was a must and this is one of the only tunnel tents this big that can deliver.

Pros: Size/Space, Ease of Pitching (30 mins first time), quality (compared to the Sprayway canvas) and versatility (3 doors and 10+ windows).

Cons: Black guy ropes (?), extension needs some practice (as per the other review it didn't hold up to strong winds BUT on the 2nd attempt we found another way that improved this a great deal)

Overall a great tent, highly recommended for anyone looking for space and the elusive 100% fully sealed living area.

This tent is huge, created a lot of interest on our first trip with it. In reality with the porch on you are looking at approx 9 meters long, you'll need a jumbo plot and it can be challenging finding a site that will accommodate you. Plenty of space so if weather is poor there's lots of room inside for everyone to be comfortable.

Tent stood up to 16 hours of non stop rain and 50 mph winds with only a few drips.

With the sheer size of the tent it is quite difficult to put up, doesn't take that long but the size and weight make it very physical. Also it comes in lots of bags (five with all the add-ons) so you'll need a big car. Biggest issue with putting up this tent is the instructions are appalling so it takes a lot of trial and error.

We bought the porch for even more space. Again instructions are non existent. The fit is really poor and it needs to be taken down if you get strong winds, or it will take itself down.

Pleased with it overall as a family tent with lots of space.
