Recently bought a Karma canvas 5m bell tent. Really quick to erect and looks really nice can't wait to get away in it.

Reason for 8 out of 10 rating is this great tent comes with really poor quality pegs you know the ones that bend really easy, a shame they don't supply good strong ones like some other maker do.

OK. What more can I say that hasn't been said. 1st class service from Karma. Ordered on the Friday delivered on the Monday, cant ask better than that. Price was best we could find for the equivalent quality. Mesh front doors, an absolute must for us this has got those. Loved the chunky wood guys on nice thick lines. Canvas is a really nice sandstone colour not a bright white. We took the tent away for 1st trip after just a quick practise pitch in the garden and boy was it quick to erect. As I say this was our 1st real pitch away. I timed it from the moment I opened the car boot. We layed out a footprint we had made and cut to shape pegged that down erected the tent, guyed out and was inside in 25 minutes, which I am sure we can improve on over time. The ZIG groundsheet is really nice and thick and gives you confidence that you couldn't damage it without doing something really stupid. The centre pole seems really sturdy along with the A frame. We did nothing to the tent regarding treatments or wetting it so it went up exactly as we got it. Within half an hour of pitching it chucked it down with rain off and on for most of the day and hey presto it remained dry inside. All in all we are delighted with it. The tent just gives you this feeling of space which our tunnel tent just doesn't seem to. I think its down to having everything in the one big area. Also if you want to glamp them up these tents are ideal. We have posted a few photos to give an idea of what can be done. For couples I believe these tents are fantastic. For families I am not so sure, although you can get an inner tent if you want to divide the bedroom area but we just loved the open feeling of it and the lights and shadows from outside on the canvas made up for the lack of windows. The only thing I would like to see on these tents is an additional clear plastic front door added.

We purchased our 5mtr ZIG from Karma back in April, and have been blessed with some great weather to test it in over the past 6 months. In total we’ve now had 13 trips out with it, so we’re now in a position to review.

Our last tent was an Outwell Montana Lake tent, so were already used to the benefits of a polycotton. We were worried about the internal space reduction, but really needn’t have been. OK, the m3 is less, but the use of the space is different. While there is a defined sleeping area in the Montana, this becomes less important in the bell.

Putting it up is so simple. The quickest its took me and the OH is 9 minutes, but I can do it on my own in around 15. A single centre pole, a frame for the door , and the guylines are the only things that keep it up.

In the wind it’s very stable, as the gusts just roll around the shape. In one monsoon of a storm the tent the centre pole barely moved, while around it other tents were being devastated. The only sign that there had been any rain was a few spots on the pole that had been blown in through the top vents – really nothing.

On hot days the zip around the ground sheet can be opened, and the sides rolled up. When it was 90degrees plus this summer it was invaluable.

We opted for to have Karma put the stove flap in the side, ready for the stove we planned to get, which we were really happy about. The little branded flap has Velcro on the bottom keep it sealed when not in use, plus 4 eyelets for securing the flue collar.

Karma canvas customer service was outstanding too, with responses to questions answered quickly. The tent was delivered on time, after the flap had been retrospectively fitted.

Expect plenty of questions and people asking to look inside – being different to the blue/green tents

An absolute stunning tent, with zero negative points. If you’re in the market for a new tent, don’t mind people asking to take a peek inside and want to have something a bit different – this is the tent for you.

Having lusted after a bell tent for years, and after lots of careful research, we bought a 5m ZIG tent from Karma Canvas this summer. We've just got back from a week in Wales and were very impressed.

The tent is very easy to erect - by far the easiest big tent I've ever used. In a little over ten minutes we were up and running. All the components seem very well made and the zips and guy lines functions smoothly.

In the wind and rain, the tent performs brilliantly. We had no water ingress whatsoever and it feels really solid, even in strong wind.

Like all large canvas tents, this one is HEAVY and we bought a fold-up sack truck for moving it around on site. With this caveat, it's a tent we can confidently recommend.

I am very pleased with this tent. As I also have a 4m bell tent some of my comments will compare the two sizes. Hopefully this will be helpful to anyone trying to decide which to get as people often ask about the differences.

Firstly, it is just about as quick and easy to pitch as the 4m, with maybe one or two more pegging points. The only difference was that it was noticeably heavier to lift the central pole and I think some people may find it challenging to do alone.

The canvas is a warm beige. This tent has an insect mesh inner door which is not only useful in keeping out bugs but can also be zipped up to cut the wind while still allowing an outside view - the nearest thing to a window.

The hook on the central pole is quite high. I could just reach it and I'm 5ft 8 and a half. To fix anything higher on the pole you would need something to stand on.

The tent stood up well to quite a lot of wind and rain. The canvas sloping roof is blown in and out despite tight guys, so I made sure nothing was too close to the canvas when it was raining.

There were two of us in the tent, and it was quite a bit more spacious than the 4m. I found I could walk around quite freely while in the 4m I could stand in the centre but had to stoop a lot in the rest of the tent. There is plenty of room for a camp bed between the central pole and the canvas. I couldn't fit a camp bed in this direction in the 4m.

The entrance is also higher which meant bending only slightly to get in and out. I used a canvas tarp with the tent and found that it was at a much better height and I could stand up under it. To have the front of the tarp at standing height with the 4m meant that there was quite a slope from the front of the tarp back to the door which caused the lower edge of the tarp to swing forward at the door end, leaving a gap between the tarp and the tent. The alternative was to have the front of the tarp low to keep it more level. This problem didn't occur with the higher doorway.

The guy lines have lovely chunky wooden runners which you can really get hold of and adjust easily as well as looking good.

This is a heavy tent so I carry the canvas, groundsheet and poles separately.

Karma Canvas gave good service and their price was lower than other suppliers.

We have just returned from our first camping trip in our Karma Canvas tent and it was my first camping trip ever.

The tent is enormous but is very easy to put up. I had researched all the bell tents by various manufacturers and this came top for height of entrance combined with price. The tent literally does take minutes to go up and I feel fairly confident that I could do it on my own if I needed to. We have also been practising with packing the tent up into its holdall and now have a slightly smaller footprint by rolling it tighter.

We only felt that the pegs that put the guy ropes down were a bit weaker than they needed to be so we are replacing these.

After owning a lesser brand 4m bell tent we decided to purchase a 5m ZIG version but OH needed convincing it was big enough for our main holiday so visited the Karma show room.

As soon as he saw it he was happy it would be more than big enough for us so agreed we would buy one after Christmas. Change of plans came when I received their newsletter email with a 10% discount and so tent was purchased a little sooner :).

First pitch was Easter where we had sub zero temperatures, being 3m tall compared to the shorter 4m bell tent it isn't so easy to heat but that's not too much of a problem.

After several large tents which weren't quite right for one reason or another I'm convinced this is our 'keeper'.

Bought my Karma Canvas bell after lots of confused looking around. The main selling point was the mesh door which not many of the others had. Bought the ZIG version for the same reason as having the mesh - a dislike of insects, although have not yet tried to zip off.

I emailed the company before buying to ask a couple of basic questions and the responses were fast and friendly. I bought the tent and it arrived via courier the very next day. Amazing service.

The first pitch was in the garden that evening! Took husband and I 15 minutes which included attaching all the guys etc.

Since then we have taken the bell for a couple of overnight quick trips away - which is one of the brilliant things about a bell tent - the speed you can put it up and take it down again!

It has also been up in the garden for quite a period of time - we have had some horrendous weather and I have been worried about the tent getting damaged or the poles snapping but it has been BRILLIANT. Really has taken a battering by rain and some seriously strong winds and I have only had to tighten the guys.

Awesome tent.

So pleased with the fast efficient service from Karma.Ordered the Bell 5m Zig over the weekend, took delivery on the following Tuesday.

Pitched the tent, just to check it over, in about 15 minutes even in high winds and no instructions (we had left them behind). Have yet to actually camp in it, but really looking forward to it.
