2 Reviews of the Nigor WickiUp 3

This is an addendum to my previous review. I was getting a little frustrated with the lack of room in the half-inner and bought a full inner for the Wickiup. I had initial doubts because the full inner has no porch. However it transforms the tent into a massive, comfortable hiking tent for just a couple of hundred grams more weight. There is bags of room for two large adults and the full inner makes the whole tent more stable and easier to pitch properly, but you do have to pitch inner-first. If you buy one I recommend this configuration. Even with no porch, if it's raining you can still cook in the inner if you use a stove that doesn't get hot underneath and are careful.

I use mine with the new half-inner and/or the footprint from the Eureka! Lone Tree 3 (which is the cheaper, heavier version of the same tent). The wiki is fairly well made from quality materials and my setup is light enough to carry comfortably on longer hikes. With the half inner there is only sleeping room for one, but two can spend the evening inside the fly comfortably if it's wet out and even both cook dinner on separate stoves. Pros - lots of space for the weight, good ventilation, good in the rain, plenty of options for using various inners and 'modding'. Cons - not great in heavy winds, doesn't come with guys or sufficient pegs for them, it's too tall to erect with trekking poles, some of the clips designed to attach the half inner to the fly won't actually stretch far enough to reach the fly.

Overall it's a great tent, but just be cautious about using it in winds over 20-30mph.

Manufacturer's Description

Ultra Lightweight tent system, which offers our best space-to-weight ratio. The WickiUp series has been constructed from Gorlyn 20 fabric using high-tenacity nylon 6.6, with a yarn thickness of 20 denier, which has a higher tensile strength than regular and most used nylon in tent construction. The pyramid style design with one DAC center pole cuts weight in a big way.
