2 Reviews of the OzTent RV-2

I bought this tent from Bob Rix who wrote the previous review - thank you Bob I'm delighted with it. It's now about 10yrs old and still in mint condition, but it has only been lightly used - even so it's quality pedigree is obvious. I actually use it as an overflow annexe and store for my camper van, and carry it on the bike rack. Other reviewers have commented on the difficulty carrying it inside a car - it is almost impossible unless you have something the size of a Volvo estate. Now to it's only fault, and it is a serious fault (despite Oztent's denial) but it is only in the Rv2 model and is easily rectified. The 2 nylon hinges on the verticals bend alarmingly when the tent is tensioned, especially if the Fly sheet is attached - tensioning the tent backwards. It's easily remedied by splinting across the hinges, under the Velcro straps. I actually use a short tyre lever on each side, supported by small G- clamps, well padded so as to protect the canvas. It works a treat, but do remember to remove the splint before taking it down. Problem number 2 - condensation. A real problem that is only really solved by using the Solar Fly - but again it appears to completely solve the problem.

These problems aside the RV2 is an excellent, bombproof tent that will last forever

One of the easiest tents to erect and during recent high winds it stood its ground admirably. All guy ropes are attached and stored in sewn-in pockets - no losses! Guaranteed waterproof with a 2 year warranty. Would recommend to anyone and my wife and I (who are in our 70's) handled this tent with ease, absolutely no strain whatsoever.
