1 Reviews of the Mayville 5SA
By: Jeffr Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2019 Rating:
Previously we owned a Wolf Lake 7 polycotton 2010. For holidays in France where the weather is sunnier and hotter. We found the weight and erecting too heavy, the fabric faded sooner even with fabsil spraying. The dust needed to be brushed off every day (no rain here)
Why go polyester? we've got older and the kids do their own thing now, were not retired and work full time, 2015 we purchased a campervan too expensive to leave on the drive 47 weeks a year and too small, ended up adding an Outwell awning that we slept in and sold all the same year, back to the versatility and storage of tents and our lovely petite Covington 4.
2018 we studied many tents and their erection in The Dordogne and North Devon, no doubt in my mind we needed an Outwell inflatable. The Mayville has a flysheet of 6000 Pro. This sold the tent to us as we can visits sites in the UK in cooler weather and potentially raining, lightweight for France and easy to wash, dry, brush down and lift!. When driving all day and tired its a pleasure to inflate the tent with the electric pump (but take the foot pump just in case) no poles no lifting no stress no backache. Erected and pegged in no time and the kettle on.
The Mayville looks stunningly stylish in the grey colour with the Outwell logo in the fabric, it just pops in the sun.
2014 we had a Montana 6P and spent a week each at two sites in France, at 30-35c it was hard work, now the Mayville has made moving sites a whole lot easier. Last year 2019 we stayed at two sites, Cheverny (stop off two nights twice) and Les Eyzies-de-Tayac involved three erections and dismantle with ease, eliminating one drive from Calais to Dordogne.
The Mayville or similar current model is as near perfect as a tent could be. We love it. And so does our ageing bods! camping is a way of life too satisfying to ever give up, The Mayville design and construction has made camping a whole lot easier for much longer.
