6 Reviews of the Venture 400

This tent is OK but only OK. I have a couple of issues with it. Firstlt, the groundsheet (both in the sleeping and living areas, are breaking up and have been since new. This is actually a replacement under warranty as the original one had the same problem. Everything in the tent (and therefore anything we come into contact with afterwards, becomes covered in tiny bits of plastic from the floor. If I run a clean hand over ther floor, it becomes covered in these little bits. Very unsatisfactory!

Secondly, both doors are inclined back so that neither can be left open if it's raining and, if it is raining, whenever they are opened, rain pours inside.

Apart from those two things it's OK for a couple with one or two small children for a short holiday (or a slightly longer one if the weather's good?).

I camped in my pre loved Vango venture 400 for the first time in May.

I think it would be a very tight 4 man tent. However camping alone I had space to use the two compartments. One for sleeping the other for storage! Easy to pitch although the tension pins on the poles are a bit tricky, but it's a 'nack' so once you know how it's easy, I watched a YouTube video to see how to do it. Overall a great experience

We bought this tent in 2005 as our 3 year old daughter adored camping so we felt an upgrade in tent was necessary.

The first time we pitched this tent we hadn't correctly used the water flaps-make sure they are pulled out and the doors are hooked tight. Unfortunately, in the tremendous down pour the porch filled with water. On the plus side, not a drop entered the tent and we've never made this mistake and suffered this problem since. :D

My husband and I have quite a rhythm with this tent now and can put it up in 15 minutes (and down in the same time too). My husband has put it up easily by himself and I have put it up successfully, in just the same time, with my daughter who was 11 at the time. By far the easiest tent we have ever pitched. It consists of two poles for the bedroom and one for the porch. The outside is pitched first and then the bedroom is toggled and pegged inside- brilliant if it happens to be raining while you are trying to pitch the tent.

We did opt to upgrade from this tent a few years ago to have a living room but found the tent took such a long time to pitch we reverted to the van go for short camping trips. When our large tent could not withstand a heavy downpour and wind-bashing it was badly damaged and we happily reverted to thus canto which has never experienced those problems in the rain.

We found that when the bedrooms are left closed they warm up nicely for the evening when the temperatures drop. The side door is very useful for children running in and out or those mid-night toilet trips! The bedroom also has a room devider which my daughter likes now that she us older and still an avid camper. It has comfortably fit 2 adults and 2 children in. On the whole we have used it with two adults and one child which has left ample room for bags etc.

It is safe to say that this tent has seen, on average, five camping trips per year for the last ten years. It has lasted brilliantly and definitely been value for money; my husband now refuses to use any other tent brand than Vango. I am, however, wishing we had invested in waterproof treatment somewhere along the way, as our camping trip earlier this week revealed 'weak spots' on the ground sheet in the porch.

As much as I would like to upgrade this tent for a bigger one more suited to my family I will be very sad to do so. A superb tent.

I honestly don't know how long I've had this tent and suddenly realised I'd never put a review on! I must have bought this when they first came out as it's lived with me for a very long time.

Fantastic tent, easy to pitch on my own or with teenagers help. Always been very stable and watertight, tested in lots of different weather conditions.

Great amount of room for a couple of you with plenty of space for luggage. The porch is really roomy and useful.

My kids now use this mainly to share with their friends and it is frankly the best, most cost effective piece of camping kit I've ever bought. I may well treat it to a clean up and re proof this year as it's not yet had to be done.

Was given this tent as an unexpected xmas present many years ago, we are still using it now.

The tent is very easy to pitch,3 poles and pegs and a few toggles and your ready to make coffee in 20-30 mins.

The sleeping area is divided into 2 doubles by a thin fly sheet which is removable, we use it as one complete sleeping and storage area for 2 and the dog. Recently we have used it for 2 adults and a teenager and dog and still plenty of room.

The awning is the life of the tent, loads of room for cooking and seating, with a smallish side door (which never use) and a large front door flap.

Best part of the tent is the bag it comes in, 3 compartments which everything fits neatly into with a big of practise. We also carry a double and single airbeds folded in between and it all fits snugly behind the drivers seat in our small fiesta.

This tent has given us so many happy times away and with a few toggle replacements will still give us a few more years yet.

Purchased this tent about 6-7 years ago now as I was looking for a smaller, lighter tent to take for 1-2 night stays, it has been a fantastic tent. I have pitched this, alone in wind and rain within 10-15 minutes. Supposed to sleep 4 but is very comfy for 2, has a porch area which is quite comfy to cook in if your rained in for a while. Has a great 3 compartment bag also

Stands up to a hefty amount of wind and rain /hail witn no complaints whatsoever. A great tent for a couple. Upgrading to a larger version now we have a little fella and need toy space
