7 Reviews of the Anglesey 5

I have one of these tents and it is the bizz. I find putting the tent up is a doddle(easy).Love the sewn in ground sheet as it keeps all the bugs out,it is very strong and sturdy ideal tent for the British weather. My kids love it as they have there own room , so to speak. It has 3 doors so it is ideal if the wind is blowing in one direction you can still have a door fully open , there is loads of room in the dome area as we found out on our last camping trip when every one came to our tent for a drink ,they all admired the tent and could not believe how big it was inside. Will still be using this tent for many years to come.

We have had this tent 5 years and it has survived gales in the witterings, torrential rain in Dover and scorching sun in Glastonbury. We have now cut out the partition in the sleeping area making it large enough for the king size airbed and enough room for a six footer alongside to stand up in. The tent only takes about 35 minutes to put up after a lot of practice. The lounge area(ha ha)is tall enough to hang a light from the centre and leave enough room for the same six footer to stand under. It is also big enough for about 8 people to sit in on a night if it is raining as we found out in Axmouth.

Overall this tent is superb the porch area has loads of room for bbqs, wellies and other gear leaving the lounge area for entertaining .

If you can get hold of 1 of these and you have room in your car for all the stuff you can fit into this tent then get one you will not be disappointed .

This tent is, for 3 people, huge, and as others have said it takes time to put up and take down, but it's well worth it. It has stood us in good stead for quite a few trips, both at home and abroad.

The tent has less 'bells and whistles' than some of the current range of tents, but it has just enough to make this a prefect base camp for trips to foreign campsites. It's stable as a rock, and easily big enough for a six footer, and the main area is big enough to throw a party - we know, we tried it!

One note of caution though: the manufacturers description below uses the word 'dividable' - it's not, it's 'divided'. The cutaway images, as shown above, show 5 sleeping bags across the bedroom: there are actually 2 bedroom areas, one sleeps three, the other two (or in our case holds all the bags!), and the partition is solid, not zipped or toggled.

In conclusion, for a three or four person family who want to go away for a week or two, this tent is really excellent!

We have used this tent on many occasions but I have the 3 night rule because it is a bit tricky to pitch. Takes a while, we have managed to do it in an hour but if you aren't very tall it isn't the tent for you, I have to climb in the tent and support the 3 main poles whilst hubby rushes round popping them into their straps.

But a great tent for space. We are all tall and hubby has given up trying to sleep in the bedrooms, he prefers to sleep in the dome.

My only suggestion would be side gussets on the porch door so you could cook underneath it. Our previous Vango had this and was useful, but the tent itself was useless !.

Top tip. In windy conditions the fly sheet can be tricky because of the height of the dome. Clip the fly sheet on, on one side that way the wind won't take it and float it straight over the top again and again and again !

We bought an Anglesey as the second tent we owned. I still like the tent a lot and as said above it has lots of useful features. The downside is that it takes a long time to pitch and pack away, unfortunately, due to it's inner-skin and outer-fly design. We don't use it much now, due to the pitching time as we now have a (smaller) tent that is faster pitching. Still a great tent, but you can't buy them new any more.

We've had this tent for 3 years from new and it is still going strong. It's been through some pretty rough weather in Anglesey and we've never had a problem with it. It's got a sewn in ground sheet which makes this tent cosy for sitting in on wet days (and believe me we've had plenty of them) it also keeps the bugs out. I'm just worried if and when we need to upgrade from this tent we are going to find it difficult to find a replacement. The only thing I would change about this tent is the porch area, it is ideal for storing outdoor clothing and coolbox etc, but if this had been made slightly longer you would be able to fit a kitchen stand in there to do your cooking. Excellent tent Wynnster hope you make something very similar to this with a porch that's slightly longer.

We purchased our Anglesey 3 years ago and boy has it been abused! This tent was our first as we were new to camping back then but can honestly say that it is a fantastic piece of kit. We call the tent 'The Tardis' as it really doesn't look much from the outside but fits literally everything inside (and believe me we like to camp in luxury and take a lot of kit!) it has a s.I.G and can actually fit a double AND single airbed in the larger bedroom. The porch is large enough to store shoes and wet gear and the mesh secondary doors and windows are a fantastic idea (don't think we've ever had a gnat in the tent) all in all I would recommend this gem to anyone, If you can get hold of one!
