8 Reviews of the Carina 8

Really good tent. Paid 250 and think I got one of the last ones on sale in the uk and it is not being made any more which is a shame.

Been to 2 Glastonburys in it and it is perfect for festival camping as long as you have a trolley to carry it in. A bit on the heavy side but with steel pole it will be.

Great front canopy to shelter from mainly the sun last year it was so hot. Love the way the bedrooms surround the living room instead usual row design. Its easier to put up than the large cross pole dome design. The instructions were not the best but after 2-3 min of looking at it, it is easy to figure out how to put it up. Colour coded poles and sleeves are handy.

Another thing not mentioned hear is that the carry bag is baggy enough to get the tent in easy.

Only issue is the windows opening from the outside which is a bit of a pain but overall a great sized, easy to put up, sturdy (steel poles), great priced and easy to put away tent.

Just a shame they are not making them any more.

Thought I would like to update my review on this, having used it again in very wet and windy conditions. We did get some rain blow in through the air vents but the weather was extreme. The window/air vents are only operable from the outside which seems a bit daft - to have to go outside to open or close them. We had them open and there was a sudden downpour - the rain started blowing in and we got soaked going outside to close them up! And it isn't the fastest tent to put up. BUT there is loads of head room and again, I'd say the huge advantage with this tent is the inner porch and the outer canopied area. After a very wet week there were no muddy footprints inside - and it was draught free. There are only two of us and we only use the main pod giving loads of living space. The two side pods are really only big enough for one adult or two children. There is an outlet for a power line but there are no hooks or loops to hang anything.

So, on second review, more criticisms but I would still buy it again.

We used our new Carina 8 at Easter for the first time,

The instructions that come with this tent are rubbish,I was reading them for ten mins without understanding how it went together,The steel poles are one third fibre glass, fitting the two outer steel poles together,to make one 'U' shaped pole.

The inner porch stops short of the ground by 4'to5' or about 120mm,so Very drafty indeed !

In the main area there is four windows/vents,all operated from Outside the tent, should be from inside !.

It has only One power/hookup entry point,at the front of the tent r/h/s facing the tent.

I think also that the inner pods should have two more hooks on the roof too stop the sag in the pods roof.

I could Not put one end of the centre 'U' pole in the hole of the tent tape tag. The ring and pin system and pull tapes can't be beat !

We spent a lot of time looking for a new tent, but until you use it for a few days, you just don't know !

We have just returned from our first holiday with this tent, and it gets a huge thumbs-up from us. It's roomy and airy. We used the porch area to store food, boots etc, and the canopy area was used for sitting out in when the night air got a little bit too chilly.

We also purchased a footprint groundsheet, which does exactly what it says on the tin, i.E. It protects the bottom of the sewn-in groundsheet. It has the added bonus of extending outwards to include the canopy area

Well we would have been lost without our new Carina 8 tent given the wet weather we endured last weekend. We owned a Wynnster Galaxy-4 previously which was a great tent, except in wet weather as although it didn't leak from above, not having a porch area or sewn-in groundsheet made life rather difficult to stay dry from running rain on the ground which made the main area very wet. It was also difficult to cook or stow muddy boots and other camping equipment out of the wet. Hence us buying a tent with a long porch area. We were impressed with our last Wynnster generally so we stuck to what we knew and this one did what we wanted generally. However, we did find we had leakages from both front windows in the main tent area, but nothing that couldn't be dealt with and the separate pods kept everyone dry. We also felt a very fine wet mist on us in the main area when the rain poured down onto it, but I expect any tent would?

I also agree that the instructions are a tad confusing and found the base of the porch areas were too high above the ground after much adjustment to the metal supporting poles - does anyone else have this problem? This meant more rain than we would have liked got under the porch areas, although the raised lip of the sewn-in groundsheet to the main area remained dry thankfully.

Overall a capacious, sturdy and relatively weatherproof tent and I would def recommend it.

I love this tent. It has plenty of room and light. The half mesh windows let in lots of ventilation - which you don't have to have if you don't want it. The porch plus integral awning come into their own. Others in our group with an 8 man tent were jealous of us being able to sit 'outside' without getting wet! And such a useful space for wet wellies and buggies which you don't want to take into the main area. Yes, the instructions are a bit confusing but after the first time, it's straightforward enough.

I would definitely recommend this tent.

We have just come back from a week camping in Weymouth with heavy rain most of the time. The Carina 8 did not leak at all and was very cosy in the main living area. We used the separate (enclosed) porch area for cooking etc. This was also ideal for taking off muddy boots etc and kept the main living area clean and dry.

This is a lovely tent. Very well thought out. The main living area has a fully sewn in groundsheet and four windows which are half mesh. The main door is half mesh which has an additional cover if required. This is great for ventilation which has been thought about considerably in this tent. In the front there is an additional porch with a front and a side door and then a canopied area in front of this.
The only thing I would be able to fault with this tent are the confusing instructions in the bag which talk about steel poles across the roof panel but these poles appear to be made out of fibre glass. An excellent tent all round.
