As an aging, solo camper I was looking for something slightly smaller than my Outwell Trout Lake 4. A Lanai Reef in excellent condition came up on Ebay and I bought it. Reason being, I wanted something that was easier to erect and not too dissimilar from the old Trout. This ticks most of the boxes and is great if your on your own and tend to stay on campsites for at least a week.
A very sturdy tent, as are most of the Outwell polycotton tents from the same era. I tend to take my time these days and still managed to put it up in under an hour.
It`s a very cosy tent for one or two people but I`d imagine three would be quite cramped. Mine must be about 12 years old now and judging by the fading of the flysheet, has been well used. However, a quality tent of this age that`s been well looked after would still outlast a new, modern polyester tent which would probably exceed the the price I paid for this .
I am very happy with it. 19/10/2025.

Just purchased a Lanai Reef from camping world about a fortnight but not been able to put it up due to work or weather! Finally got a chance today! Got to say it did take longer than I expected but being the first time we needed to install the groundsheet and bedroom which we plan to leave in the tent so it pops up all together the next time!
The tent once put up properly looks to be perfect for the two of us with plenty of space for us to sit down after a hard days bike ride or walking. The bedroom is plenty big enough for two of us as well. The quality of the polycotton fabric everything we hoped for with such a high price tag but definitely worth it and will hopefully last us for many years.
Overall very impressed with Outwell again as I have had other Outwell tents previously. Simple to put up and reassuring quality. Cant wait to try it out in a full on british wet weekend!

Quality materials and well designed. Orange colour means it feels sunny and uplifting even on a grey day and excellent light levels during the day make for happy campers.
Erected for the first time at a leisurely pace without problem in 45 mins while camping near St Davids. The polycotton fabric means it always has a lovely dry atmosphere without condensation. All the windows have curtains so privacy possible as well, if required. I am 6'2' and have always camped in small tents before so was was delighted by the good headroom throughout the tent. There are spare poles to rig the front door up as an awning.
We had some windy and wet conditions but the tent came through unscathed despite the 'palace' design. The front pole erects at at an angle which takes the stress from a front on wind very effectively. During one fierce wet squall a small amount of water penetrated I think under the front door, but these were unusually severe conditions, someone else's tent collapsed completely during this period.
If you are looking for a lovely comfortable tent for two and and will be using a car (the tent is fairly heavy) then consider this. We love it and my wife, who had not camped before, can't wait to go again.

Designed to sleep three, but perfect for a couple wanting extra space, the fast-pitching Lanai Reef is the smallest tent in the Sun Collection. But it still enjoys all the Outwell innovations that mark Reef tents out from the crowd. The wonderful Nugget colour works with the large tinted windows and creates a warm interior that benefits from the ‘air conditioning’ effect of our superior Outtex® Airtech fabric. Coupled with the colour-coordinated zip-out groundsheet, this tent is a comfortable place to sit back and relax no matter the weather. And we do supply peace of mind – the Outwell Floating Guyline System is combined with the Outwell Wind Stabilizer and Easy Pegging Systems to improve looks, reduce accidents, enhance stability and make pitching easy. The front door and groundsheet even zips together to keep out bugs and drafts…
Recommendation: An ideal compact tent for couples looking for quality and extra space in something that stands out from the crowd.
