1 Reviews of the Alpkit Kangri
By: Boggis Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2012 Rating:
Kangri is a 4/5 season mountain tent, that, imv, sits easily amongst the traditional favourites of the TN Quasar, TNF Mountain 25, MH Trango etc.
At £300 its considerably cheaper than the competition - however, the materials, construction, and design easily rival my previous tent in the same market, a TN Ultra Quasar. Its certainly an easier tent to live in than the Quasar - the doors are better thought out, the internal pockets are in better places and are more numerous, and the fractionally higher head hieght make sitting up - and getting dressed! - much more pleasurable.
Attaching the flysheet to the inner is via QR clips, and while this can be a bit 'fun' in snow, its still vastly better than the 'pole/hole' system in the Quasar - it also has more pegging out options and the guys are more supportive.
It is, IME, just as 'bombproof' as the other tents in the class, and has higher HH's that most of them - the groundsheet most of all. Mine has now been used in heavy snow, high winds, and torrential, horizontal rain on the Cairngorm plateau, Western Isles, and in the Alps - and I'm very, very happy with it.

Kangri is a 2 person 4 season mountain tent. The 4 pole geodesic design maximises the poles strength to weight ratio whilst offering spacious internal space. The 40D Sil Nylon will defend against the worst weather the mountains can throw at you whilst still being light enough to carry. Packed with internal features to make tent living, even in the harshest of environments, vaguely pleasant. There isn't a detail that has been overlooked on this tent and the culmination is a tent packed ready for anything.
