Bought our Avon 3 DLX in a rush on a camping trip to North Wales in 2021 when we discovered that the interior of our larger family tent was covered in mould. Although it was a rushed purchase we are very pleased with our choice.
The tent pitches fairly easily, although as always the metal collars on fibreglass poles can snag inside the pole sleeves (especially when taking the tent down). The supplied pegs are adequate, although we have upgraded to stouter steel pegs.
The sleeping area is plenty big enough for two people on a double airbed, althoguh 3 would be cosy. The porch is fairly large for a tent of this size, and I like the way that the front door can be guyed out to allow ventilation without letting rain into the porch. The side door is superfluous on a tent of this size, in my opinion - I have sewn mosquito netting over the opening so that we can have midge free ventilation.
Quality seems to be good for a budget tent - it withstood atrocious weather at the 2024 Krankenhaus festival that saw many more expensive tents demolished (I did add extra guylines just in case). Kept the mud and rain at bay too.
Finally, the Nightfall blackout fabric really works.
Summary - tough, practical and good for the money.

I bought this tent as covid hit so 1st time used this June (2022). Pitching relatively east and will get better with practice. It was a good size for me and young son with plenty of room in the sleeping area. The porch is a good addition with 2 access points / doors, one of which can be held open with king poles (not supplied) to have an open porch area. Only gripe is the side door which if it has rained can allow drops into the tent when opening as others have mentioned. Having said all that would I but this tent again knowing the slight downside. Absolutely, it's a good little tent and as these are often discounted they can be an absolute bargain and it also goes back in it's bag, result.

I love my Avon, it's been to all sorts of places and withstood some truly terrible weather conditions without suffering a single leak, tear or cracked pole.
Super quick and easy to pitch, acres of space both in the tent and porch which features a groundsheet too.
Headroom is great, lots of room for cooking and stashing gear in the porch too.
Split between 2 people, the carry weight is acceptable. Unlike a lot of tents which are advertised as 3 person, there actually is room for 3 people in the Avon.

I bought this tent as a replacement for a HI Gear Atom 3 which was stolen after many good outings. I was after the a Vango Alpha but they had sold out as I wanted one at short niotice so after some thought I bought an Avon 300 Deluxe from Millets, priced at £59 and an extra 15% off with a code so got it for £50. We used the tent for 3 nights in Scotland over the last May bank 2016 holiday in exceptionally warm weather.
The tent is easy to pitch with only 3 poles and can be erected by one person in 10 to 15 minutes. The front porch is spacious for a small tent with room to store all the essentials, the ground sheet is attached to the bedroom but not the fly sheet so we found the midges could get in easily.
The bedroom is large enough for 2 people but would be cramped with 3, we used a double airbed which was snug from door to back. We did find in the mornings that there was a lot of internal condensation on the flysheet and so had to air the tent with the door open, as there is only a single skin door with no net inner this lead to more midges. As always when I return from camping I air my tent over the washing line and check everything over, I found a 2cm split in the ground sheet to the bedroom and so returned to Millets for a full refund. I will go back to Millets for their service to buy the Alpha when it comes back in stock as the service was superb. The only reason I marked this tent down is that we didn't rain test it and the splitting of the ground sheet.

Fantastic tent. I bought mine because a friend owned one and I really liked the big porch area. I had previously used a perfectly serviceable tent but without a porch and it makes life so much easier when you can get out of the sleeping area without climbing bum-first into the outdoors!
Wait for the sales if you buy one. They're full price at £90 but I got mine for £54.

I recently purchased this tent as my last 2-man tent was a bit small. This tent has plenty of room for 2 people. The additional porch area is really useful, however as per other reviews, the roof of the porch does get quite a lot of condensation on it in the morning.
When I bought this tent, its RRP was £90 (I got it cheaper in a sale)
Compared to other tents of this size & price range, I think this is a great tent.

Having used smaller 2 man tents in the past, this upgrade to a 3 was a bonus. Very quick to pitch (and take down). Plenty of room (but don't try to stand up!), for living space in the sleeping compartment and also storage in the porch. Used it for a week long stay in sunny Jersey and it was more than adequate, although for longer stays or cooler weather, you would require more room 'indoors'. I agree with earlier reviews about condensation on the inside of the porch, resulting in a few wet heads and backs in the mornings, but not exactly a major issue.
All in all, excellent value and an essential part of a long weekend break.

Excellent small tent, with the porch groundsheet sewn into the tent inner. Loads of room in the porch area. Fast to put up and take down.
Unfortunately not so good in high winds, the wind shattered a pole section supporting the porch and shattered one of the main poles in a few places. All in all a great allround tent.

I have just bought this tent I am a single mum with a 7 yr old and have never pitched a tent or been camping before so this is all new to me. I was looking for a tent big enough for two but easy to erect on my own,I first tried a pop up tent but it was a nightmare , so I returned it and bought this little one and it is perfect, easy to erect when you know what you are doing, spacious inside and the porch area is great for storage, the only draw back is the gap around the bottom in the porch area.I would definitely recommend to anyone who is interested in camping ,great as a first time buy.

Bought one of these for my son and his girlfriend. What a bargain! We were only away for a weekend, but it absolutely poured down with heavy rain for a whole day, and there were no leaks at all.
Erects quickly and easily, loads of space, even with a large airbed, and storage at the end.
The only reason it doesn't get a '10' is for the same reason that others have given - the issue of water ingress when unzipping the door.

Made from fire retardant fabric with pre-attached guylines, with an inner made of breathable polyester. D shaped door on inner eliminates contact with the ground. Fully taped seams help keep it dry. This tent also has a porch area with porch groundsheet attached and comes with handy storage pocket inside so you can keep it neat and tidy. The Hydrostatic Head is 2000mm.
