The approach is *very* narrow. If you have a unit greater than 22ft you *will* get stuck. Period.
There are two toilets advertised although we only found one. (The owner was happy enough to take the money, but gave no information as to where the toilets, EHU and water points were).
The one toilet and shower we did find were filthy. Dead insects, dusty cobwebs, filthy toilet pan all attested to the remarkable lack of cleaning. (The toilets were not looked at for the three nights that we were there).
The last day of our visit and the toilet paper ran out.
There is no CDP. Chemical toilet contents and grey water went down the loo - there was simply nowhere else to dispose of it.
The grass was at least 6' long.
I pity any camper that is forced to use these facilities.
The views are spectacular.
If you want a quiet stay in the countryside with minimal facilities then this is the site for you.
We stayed here over the easter holiday. After ringing 4 campsites that were all fully booked, we tried Great Hall. They had plenty of space and we didn't need to book. The field is tucked away down a dead end lane, so there wasn't any passing traffic, so it was a really quiet site. The views were impressive and the lack of light pollution also meant it was good for stargazing. The field is slightly sloping but nothing to worry about. There were only 4 caravans and 4 tents that weekend, so there was plenty of space for everyone The facilities were basic, I could only find 1 toilet (although the website says 2) which meant queuing occasionally, and only 1 shower, which I couldn't get any hot water from at 7.30 in the morning, but people were using it, so there must have been some at some point. But all in all, for £7 a night, I not complaining. I would use again, but only for short breaks.
Just returned from a lovely couple of days camping!
The site has lovely views across the Wye valley and is nicely secluded off the beaten track. It makes a good base to explore the surrounding area and is very peaceful.
Although stating only 5 pitches, there is plenty of room in the field for more and at one stage during our visit, there was a total of 3 caravans and 7 tents and still loads of room for more!
On site there is 1 toilet and 1 shower, both of which were kept quite tidy and clean. There is also 2 electric hook up points.
The site is very much a basic camping field, so if you're expecting a club house etc. You'll be disappointed. If you want peace and quiet and have a keep it simple attitude, this will be ideal.
We'll be returning shortly!
