User Reviews of the Prism

We own a sunncamp prism what a cracking tent. We love it it is quirky and very easy to put up. The poles are very strong and lock together I like the bright coloured guide ropes, no tripping over them. It has stood up to the worst weather Everybody else tents were swaying in the wind not ours. It is has loads of room inside plenty of head room for the tallest of people. Very light and airy. Would highly recommend it to anyone. We think it is the best tent on the market by far!

First I would like to mention United British Caravans in Newcastle. Saw a deal in their Ebay shop for a Sunncamp Prism, c/w Fitted carpet for £149. Rang them, and they were happy to offer the same deal for 'over the counter' customers.

Having driven up there from Blackpool, via Bolton (don`t ask!) they not only honoured the deal, but threw in a footprint groundsheet too.

Spirit of adventure fully alive and all that. On the way home, stopped in a lay by, whipped out the laptop, and did a site search nearest to where I was, Ended up at Fallowfield Dene Campsite, Hexham, Northumberland (review in relevant section)

As for the tent itself, been lusting after one for some time, love the looks, impressed by the write ups that owners have left. And the price was bob on.

Pitched it solo, straight out of the boxes, while going dark, and raining lightly, in about an hour, had no idea it was going to be so big.

Once pitched, it has a solidity that inspires confidence, it has the same kind of angularity as as stealth aircraft, with about the same drag coefficient. Despite high winds whipping through the trees, from all angles, nothing budged, (almost wish I had pitched it somewhere more exposed to really try it out, I did say almost:))

As I sit here writing this, I'm watching water running down the large front window above my head, which would normally bother me but it`s been doing it for nearly 13 hours solid, and no leaks anywhere. Wish id bought it earlier in the season, would be nice for it`s maiden voyage to be a fine weather affair. But it`s looking very good so far

Purchased this tent new for a song complete with carpet.

Used it for our first ever family trip away with my wife, eight year old daughter and our pooch. For our first outing we went up up west coast of Scotland for three days. When we arrived on site it was raining on and off but for its size it is really easy to put up quickly.

The poles used for outer frame are shock corded steel so this thing is solid and incredibly stable when erected. Dont think any other tent on the site looked as rigid and sturdy to be honest. You also get the looks, either good or bad due to its unusual shape. However dont let the look or shape put you off as I myself was unsure, but it looks great when up and is very spacious throughout with lots of head room. So much so that I am 5,10 and can just stretch up to hook camping lantern onto hook.

Although its listed as eight man, it doesnt have a massive footprint to some tents, but inside is like the tardis, spacious with large living area. The three of us could sit in comfort and I even cooked inside during some bad rain.

Rained heavy both nights and not a drop inside the tent and ventilation throughout is also excellent with no condensation that I could see.

The angles of the tent do seem to help with keeping the wet weather out allowing water to run off quickly. The flysheet fits like a glove and is nice and tight with no wrinkles or sags when fitted with no areas for water to pool or collect.

All in all a fantastic family tent that is available for fantastic prices just now across the web.

Would recommend to anybody as a first or replacement family tent.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!

We have only just used our Prism (properly- as in a longer break) and it certainly passed the test, it is surprisingly roomy for such a funny shaped tent, it stood firm in the high winds that lasted one whole day of our break! and didn't drip once in a whole nights worth of heavy rain!

The whole tent can be opened up to really let air through via the back and front door mesh screens (as well as side vents and mesh windows) this gave the tent a lovely light feel but can also be completely sealed up for privacy too if needed.

The height of the tent is amazing- I'm 6'4' and had to stand on tip toes to open the bedroom door fully (no messed up hair- do's for me!)

The back door is handy also- allowing us to pitch our loo tent just outside for little'uns nightly call of nature.

Looking at it you would think it is tricky to pitch - this is simply not the case- (with 2 people) its probably one of the easiest tents I've ever pitched!

We were asked many times what make the tent was and where we got it from. And lots of people told us how 'cool' it looked.

Can't really find a fault with it TBH and would recommend to anyone who likes something a little 'different'.

Excellent Value for money! You cant go far wrong with this one, plenty of space and headroom, the 'Secondary Mesh' doors are great if you (your wife!) don’t like bugs etc, and the eyelets for hanging a light are very handy even with a cable tidy down the side,. They thought of everything.

Best of all is the way the steel poles lock together, very strong frame and easy to assemble.

Over-all build quality is good, but some of the seams on the inner-tent do seem to be a little too tight/stressed on the bedroom door, and slightly on the front door of the flysheet but adjusting the poles helps with this.

We highly recommend the Footprint ground sheet well worth £15 and the carpet £35 just finishes it off nicely, we will be buying a second carpet for the bedroom.

Go buy one!

A superb tent! It stood up well to the horrendous wind and driving rain in Wales two weeks ago. One point deducted because of one little niggle; the flysheet valence (which serves no useful purpose that I can see) flaps loudly in the wind - simple cure though, I rolled it up and secured it with the tiny clothes pegs which came with our Gelert washing line kit!

This is a great value for money tent which is surprisingly spacious, the sitting area is bright even with the windows covered while the sleeping area is darkened by he black part of the flysheet. The insect screens are very effective and best of all it is quick and easy to pitch and take down.

A tip; buy the optional footprint groundsheet as well - cleaning the underside of the inner tent groundsheet is a pain!

I bought this tent on a whim after falling in love with its quirky looks, (I think it looks a bit like darth vadars helmet so of course i'm going to like it!) Any way the space in the tent is enormous and for headroom its unbeatable so when coming to put the thing up I was slightly aprehensive (I have to do it on my own, my wife refuses to help and my 15 month old is of little assistance either!) But it is soooo easy, I'm under six foot (not saying how much) but I put up the tallest tent I've ever seen by myself with admiring glances rather than laughter from onlookers. It got even better when the wind blew, whilst tents all around where struggling and swaying my Prism stood solid without moving. There are always down sides to everything and this is no exception, you do lose space with the sloping walls, but its light and airy and I love it!

This fantastic new invention turns a can of drink into a sealed bottle, protecting drinks from being spilt, keeping out creepy crawlies, and keeping fizz in. They are a must for any camper or caravanner.
