I watched the Tour of Britain Stage 5
Around the Cheshire circuit
I went locally to watch the Riders come Through Dean Row Wilmslow .
Lovely turn out ,Carnival Atmosphere people clapping as The Outriders and Police came through ,a person nearby watching It on TV .
Informed us where the Leaders where on the course .
Approaching Adlington and coming up Lee's Lane then entering Dean Row road .
The crowds of people waited with great expectation .
When the Lead riders came into view
Everybody clapped and cheered as they zoomed past .
especially for the British riders It was great to see all this live
and later watching the TV .
Spotted myself taking photos
It was Great Day for British Sports and a boost for the sport of Cycleing
It came through my part of Wirral in 2019 - as luck would have it I was visiting my cousin in Switzerland at the time, but we watched it on tv! My family was by the roadside watching the spectacle, as were some members of my knitting group with a specially decorated (with knitting) bicycle. We decorated some of the trees with knitting too; not that the cyclists would have been paying much attention, but it was fun to glimpse the colourful woollies on the tv coverage.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
Went to the top of one of the climbs and parked up in the van, so teas and the loo available!
Great atmosphere and good fun watching all the organisation. Cyclists went super fast even while sorting through their lunch musette and going uphill!
I've supported it for many years when it's been in the area I've chatted to Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish at the finish in Llandudno have photo's of Geraint Thomas in Southwell. But we had a funny experience a couple of years ago when the race was in Nottingham,we went to see the race a few miles from home the stage turned off the main road were we were then went through some villages and back onto the main road a couple of miles away, while they were in the villages we drove to the next viewpoint 2 miles away, the plan was then go to Southwell 20 miles away. The peleton passed and all the team cars and we jumped in the car and followed. We actually caught up with the end of the caravan and drove through several villages with the crowds cheering and waving as if we were part of the race.I'm already looking to next year when the race comes to the East Midlands again.
Some of the Highlights of Tour of Britain .
Was It showed how Beautiful Cheshire Is and such a variety of terrain .
The lovely flat plains and leafy lanes
also the Hilly climbs of the Eastern side near the Peak District .
and the gruelling climbs up through Rainow
and the Brickworks climb up Bakestone dale road .
The Aptley named "Bottom of the Oven "
Out of Wildboarclough .
and the Speedy Decent of the Famous A57
Snake Pass .
A Brilliant Challenging course for the Cyclelist reaching terrific speeds
having stood watching them live ,you realize how fast they go .
All in All It was a great Spectacle
Great morale booster and Prestige for the Country .
Well done to All the Organisers and Volunteers
and great viewing for the Spectators
