Mr Preston himself, Trevor Hemmings, has sadly passed away at the age of 86.
By all accounts, a true gent, and a winner. A former brickie's apprentice done good!
Owner of Preston North End FC. Three times winner of the Grand National. Former (two times) owner of Pontins. Former owner of Blackpool Tower. And Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) for his work as vice-president of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.
Not the shabbiest of CV's, I guess.
It's been black armbands at the races today, and I suspect the same will apply on Saturday at Deepdale, when PNE take on my beloved Rams.
I suspect the away fans would be rather appreciative of a decent and respectable football club owner at this particular time, so I'll trust both sets of fans will be on their most respectful behaviour.
Will be interesting to see what happens next, as a Norwich fan I haven't idea what life after Delia will look like. We presume the club goes to her nephew, so it will be interesting to see how PNE handle the transition to whoever or whatever is next.
Mr Hemmings son was made Chairman in 2019. As PNE fans we will have to wait and see what happens next. At the moment we all feel for the family and the numerous charities he supported with large amounts of donations. Most of which he made with the stipulation he didnt want it made public. A true gent
"Following the sad passing of Preston North End’s owner Trevor Hemmings on Monday evening, to encourage as many supporters as possible to celebrate his life and leadership of their club, the hosts have decided to reduce match ticket prices for Derby County’s visit to Deepdale on Saturday 16th October (3pm kick-off).
Tickets for Saturday’s match have been reduced to £5 for all supporters including away fans, with all gate receipts to be donated to charities supported by Trevor Hemmings.
All Derby supporters that purchased a match ticket at the original prices will automatically receive the difference to the credit/debit card used to make their purchase.
And although tickets for the Rams’ first match following the international break went off-sale as scheduled at noon today, Preston have advised that just over 2,000 £5 tickets in the away end will be made available to Derby supporters on the day.
Payment will be via cash at the turnstiles and card payment will not be accepted."
