Caster, whats really annoying me I that I am no shy bairn (you might have guessed that by now) But I just kinda accepted the charge as I did not want to look stupid.
Although I was standing in wellies, boddy warmer, hair not at its best with the OH, kids and dogs itching to get pitched. So really looking a bit more stupid would not have mattered lol. Even after I asked the question, I said to myself, its only coppers, someone on UKC will help me then at least I will know for the next time. The did not charge me a service charge at Barnard Castle.
Hi guys - maybe it was the fashion police, might have to watch out for that the next time.
We went to Bellingham - Brown Rigg, have posted on campsite reviews about the site, it was lovely (bar the dog walk)
I did pay by card, but that was at their request, I phoned up on the morning to ask if there was any spaces, she said "loads as not many people know about us as we are new with the C&CC. She did say something about only having service pitches, but again I have no idea what that means. Had a look through the C&CC book, but so far cant find anything about the service charge, other than sites mention they may charge it.
Someone has to know what it is for. Mind I will make sure I look a proper model when I next pitch

It looks like you have been charged for a service pitch which will include electric hook up and maybe water and TV connections and some have waste facility on a serviced pitch
Next time if you don’t want or wont use any of the services then insist on a non serviced pitch
Thanks Force ten. That sounds like whats happened, as tents around us had the orange wires going from their tents. I told them that I it was only our 2nd family outing and we had no electric or anything and they said that was fine, she did say something about all their pitches were service pitches, but I stupidly thought nothing of it.
So my next question now is... If they say there is no non serviced pitches, is it a case of put up and shut up, or insist I dont want electricity and the likes? (or just do go there lol) Seriously tho I really do mind paying the extra coppers, just annoyed with myself for not asking what it was for
I have just had a look at the website and it says if you have a club service pitch (per pitch per night) it costs £2.75 this looks like what you have been charged
they have two different types of pitch
The club standard pitch
A grass pitch with no hard standing or hire of electric hook-up. No additional fee payable.
The club service pitch
Includes the hire of hardstanding and/or electric hook-up.
I think this may be it. I had the opposite (buty mildly embarassing) experience of arriving at a C&CC site recently and being asked if I had an age concession. I was mortified. When I checked up the age concession is at age 55 - which I will be shortly. I thought I'd aged ten years without noticing!
------------- Best regards

I think that there are some sites that say they only have Club Service Pitches and hence even if you're not using the leccy etc you still ahve to pay. There's not many CCC sites like that AFAIK - Ravenglass I think does?
I tried to read your review on Bellingham - brown brigg but couldn't find it, must be looking in the wrong place.
Would you be so kind as to tell me what you thought of the campsite as we are planning to go there in July. Also we have a dog and i see you were disappointed with the dog walk.
