Can anyone afford to stay at a CAMC club site these days? I’ve been looking at sites which were always full but now seem to have plenty space probably because of the price. My thought is that the club would rather have 20 vans at £50 a night rather than 50 vans at £20 per night.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Booked in November 2025 for an overnight stop on Sunday 10 May 2026, for 1 person, 1 dog on a hardstanding pitch for 26.80 GBP at Poolsbrook Club Site near Nottingham on my way home from an event in Newcastle, which was reasonable to me at time of booking.
Been there before again as an overnight stopover and I liked it as it is next to a free to use country park.
I am a member of both clubs and tend to stay at C&CC club sites as much as I can now that I qualify for their concession rate. However, I am staying with CAMC so that I have wider choices when planning my tours.

Members of both clubs but rarely use main sites unless on a deal or no other option. Not really our style of camping. Use the CL's & gives more of our budget for spending at local shops & eateries.
Just back from three nights at a CAMC site, cost just shy of £150
All 59 pitches were taken every night.

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
We are paying a ridiculous amount this year to stay on a CMC site. We are paying it grudgingly because the site is in such a good area for us and there are no other sites nearby to choose from apart from one site that doesn’t have any facilities and we need a toilet.
Some of the popular sites are now looking for a crazy amount of money.
CAMC operates “dynamic pricing”: at popular times, the price goes up. At quiet times, it goes down. So our pitch that wasn’t fit for purpose on a rammed CAMC site at Easter for 2 retired members was £57, and the site was fully booked. I feel so sorry for families, who have less choice of when to go.
Some well-reviewed CAMC CLs do have much cheaper rates, but we need a site loo & that puts the price up. Independents for us if possible, currently £20-35.
I only stay at club sites as I prefer per person pricing structure as I camp on my own with a dog (NOT getting into another discussion about per person pricing structure).
Also from a personal safety perspective, I prefer club sites as I can be certained that there will be staff on site 24/7 in case of any issues.
At the end of the day, and this applies to ALL bookings and purchases, as long as the prices are clearly shown/provided at time of booking/making a purchase, it is down to me to accept or reject.

DK, I take both your points.
Not CAMC, but if you ever come back up to Scotland, have a look at Drumroamin Farm in SW Scotland: its pricing starts as per person. The owners live there, good dog walking, dark starry skies, spotless facilities, award winning. My chill-pill site. Drumroamin
Just saying that there can be alternatives to Club sites that fit the brief. However, Garlieston CAMC is not far away, has a different vibe.
I don't think we have used a club site for at least two years now, we just go with whatever site is cheapest wherever we want to go, providing it has the facilities we want and looks ok online. We study the reviews quite closely. All we need is a quiet site with toilets, showers, and EHU. Without the last one we have no fridge or hot water. We can manage without the first two if we have to, but we prefer not to if we can avoid it.

No need for loos or showers but ehu is essential to us.
As our caravan is old the toilet/shower compartment is very small. My wife and I are fairly tall and not as young as we once were so trying to shower in the caravan without getting covered in bruises is virtually impossible. Also we try to avoid carrying anything heavy too often, and water is very heavy, so lugging around toilet waste tanks and water containers is kept to an absolute minimum. Basically the caravan facilities are for emergency/nighttime use only. We are usually out most of the day anyway, weather permitting.
Still belong to C&CC but left the other club years ago as we got age discount from the C&CC. But have not used a Club site now for about 6 years as due to age, look for full service pitches only for ease of use ,and can get these on private sites often cheaper than Grass / Electric only on club sites.
