Thanks for that Mike will do, We are very easy going so the snobs wont bother us, we will spend a lot of time round the lakes fishing, we met a few of the season pitchers at the end of season party last year, those we met were first timers last year and didn't seem to bad, either that or the drink helped them to unwind lol!!

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Hi Mrs Bonce, thanks for the suggestions but we've camped at both areas in the past and liked it,fancy a change of scenery.
Just thought we'd try somewhere else as we want to go to Cheddar Gorge,Wells,Wookey Hole,Weston Super Mare for days out etc

You are also very close to Glastonbury. Also not strictly Somerset but Bath if you not been before and of course England's greatest port of Bristol (sorry - just winding up you Liverpudlians!)
How about Alpine Grove which is strictly not in Somerset. We have been there twice and had a wonderful time. Very friendly owners; nice woodland site and good facilities.
------------- we camp once a year but we said our hobbies were camping?!

Batcombe Vale lovely site but only 2 showers in wash rooms so may be a bit of a queue? Have heard good reports of the one nearer to Glastonbury...?Oaks i think? maybe someone here will know it.

It most certainly is in Somerset,we Somerset dwellers are a bit touchy about things like that especially when the BBC etc refer to Exmoor as being in Devon when 80% of it is in Somerset.

..if you refering to OLD OAKS its adults only and defenetly no playing area but it is a first class site
Within walking distance to the pretty village of Priddy (2 village pubs). And easy access by car to Cheddar, Wells, Glastonbury and surrounding area.
I was going to recommend this one, it's a nice quiet site and very close to Cheddar, there is also Forestry Commission land nearby and the area is very beautiful (I'm biased though). Both pubs are very good and at least one is dog-and-child friendly. They do great food.
Any of the sites near Glastonbury would be in easy reach too. Blagdon Lake area is very pretty and good for walking. Bath is also a reasonable drive as is the coast.
Edit: If you do stay here don't make the mistake we did of turning left when leaving the campsite, as it drives you straight through Cheddar Gorge, which is not suitable for caravans! We managed it OK though, I just wouldn't do it again in a hurry! I'm so used to the area I forgot we had a van attached!
