This will be our first camping holiday, and I have been trying to find a campsite for us and some friends in the South West, either Gloucestshire, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire.
I have looked at lots of sites but none quite fit the bill, so I thought you experts might be able to help. We want a family friendly site, children are 3 -5 years old. With some amenities like a shop, maybe take away service, good toilet and shower facilities.
I don't want to have to pay double for our 750cmx330cm tent, nor (as lovely as it would be) do we want there to be a river or lake on the campsite for fear of the children wandering off.
Sites either seem to be full on, karoke in the evenings types to a couple of pitches by a pub. Is there anything in between?

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We stayed here a couple of years ago and loved it. It wasn't in the summer holidays though. It is a bit out of the way so you would need to use the car. Really lovely place though.
Welcome to ukcs
Edited to say that there is a fishing pond but it is not any where near where our tent was pitched.
------------- Always Kate unless Jay is looking over my shoulder :) x
Thanks Jaynkate 7769 that looks like a really nice site. I have saved it for future reference. Because we are in South Wales and our friends are coming from Reading we want some where as with not too much of a drive for them, as they are not keen on longer hauls
thanks for that, the site looks lovely. I am probably being dense, but remember complete novice here. Would we have to pay for a hook up premier pitch because we have a 8 beth one?
Plenty of places to get to from Ang and Ken's too. I live 15 miles away but the coast either North Somerset or Dorset is not too far away plus you have the Mendips, Cheddar, Wookey Hole and Exmoor, Exeter, Bristol Zoo within an hour or two as well.
I'd bite their hands off for a seasonal pitch if we didn't live so close!
how about warren farm at brean, great for the kids, lots of play areas, some animals, that our kids loved putting to bed each night, shop, indoor play area, small cinema, entertainment if wanted, cross the road to the beach.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
