Hi. A good friend of mine is looking to take her family - 2 young teenagers - camping. They can't afford to go too far so would like somewhere an hour or so from their home in Bingham, Nottinghamshire. Can anybody recommend a great site for them? Ideally not hugely expensive but somewhere that won't put them off camping for life - might even convert them. Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, etc. Know anywhere for them? A great place for a great break.

Many thanks.

Neil

C&CC site at Teversal is lovely.  Excellent clean facilities and a country park across the road.  C&CC sites are probably a bit more expensive than private sites if you aren't a member but you can be certain they will be good.

Have you looked at the reviws section on this site?  Some great information available in there.

Good luck

I liked the look of Golden Valley as well and hope to visit. We are off to http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=6111 (Shallow Grange Farm) in Buxton. It was only 37.00 for 3 nights for 2 adults and 1 teenager, toddler is free. We are booked on an electric pitch and you only pay for the electric if you use it and only for what you use. This is a working farm and you really get to enjoy it. You're very close to the Peak District with lots of walking activities as well.

This is an eco friendly site and encourages recylcing as well. There are no extra charges for school or bank holidays and no charges for awnings or dogs.

We camp on a budget as well and do lots of walking, siteseeing, and board games. We usually have one day out visiting a nearby town.

Also, in Newhaven, you will find http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1796 This is a great campsite, everyone there is so welcoming and the site is well kept. I think it was only about 12 a night, not sure about bank holidays. The best place to pitch is the lower section, it's nice and flat.

I hope they find a place nearby and have a wonderful time

I should add that on the listing here, it states that Shallow Grange doesn't take tents, however, they do!
