Invercaimbe Croft Caravan and Camping Site at Arisaig, Highlands. The end of the site comes right onto the beach, the scenery is to die for, shop, post office, cafe and a couple of pubs in the village about a mile away, and you can fish anywhere. It used to be on here in campsite search but seems to have disappeared - if you google it you should find it.

Hi Berrymoss, have you any particular area in mind ? we do have a fair bit of coastline up here
With regard to Invercaimbe, I have used this site many times over the years and enjoyed it. If you are looking in this particular area they're are quite a few sites along this coastline with varying degrees of facilities.
As a regular visitor to Arisaig (minimum 4 times a year) I would recommend you book in advance as it gets really busy in the summer months.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

Hi Tiggersmum,
Not sure exactly of where we want to go. We've never been anywhere north of Stirling before. So anywhere near the coast with all of the original requirements would be good.
Once you get north of Stirling the scenery gets even better.
Personally I'm very bias towards Arisaig. I used to have a seasonal pitch up there and do a 300 mile round trip most weekends to get there. If you are lucky enough to get the weather its an experience you will remember forever.
If you don't fancy going that far up you could always base yourself at Fort William. I would suggest Glen Nevis campsite, great facilities, shop and pub on site and a 45 minute drive will take you to Arisaig for access to the beaches and fishing.
You might also want to try the east coast around St Andrews which has a lovely big beach. There are some lovely little villages in the area like Pittenweem,Anstruther and Crail which has a campsite right on the waters edge.

Added bonus of no midges on the east coast and as tiggarsmum said there are some great sites which would meet all your needs.Take a look at the campsite search facility for Fife ,reviews are pretty much spot on and honest..

A great wee site that meets most of your criteria is Immervoulin at Strathyre. Great scenery, loads of walks most of them you can let your dog (if you have one) off lead. Small village 10 minutes walk with a couple of pubs, shop. Lovely town of Callandar 9 miles away, have also walked to there. Great bike trails. As much fishing as you would ever want, river running past site and loads of lochs within walking distance or a short drive. Very central to see loads of great places within an hour and a half drive, the Trossachs, Glencoe, Loch Lomond etc etc. Sorry - no beach.
I'm eavesdropping on this thread. We're trying to decide where to go for hols in late July. Don't have a particular destination in mind other than "somewhere we haven't been before". As we've been around a bit that means either far south of England or Scotland. We're worried about the midges in Scotland - we've heard some horror stories from colleagues who are hardened walkers and campers. Is it true there are no midges on the East coast? We're looking for somewhere child friendly (nearly 7 yr old and nearly 4 yr old), preferably with a beach and child welcoming pub.
Can I borrow this thread aswell, we too are planning scotland for next year, no children just 2 big dogs, but the same as berrymos, close to beach, pub, and maybe shop, can,nt decide between arsaig area or clachtoll beach for 5 days, then over to the east coast, or even inland for 5 days, thats if the price of deisal does,nt go up anymore !!! Penny

Come to Loch Lomond, Great people, Excellent place, Fab fishing, National park,Ben Lomond, Shops, Resturants, 30mins from Glasgow, 30mins from Stirling
Oh nearly forgot. You get to meet ME and Lobey will also join us for a wee drink or two
What more can a person want !!! No we don't get eaten alive with Midges. In fact I've just been up the Loch side and thru the national Park with Cora. It's been raining on and off for 2 days. Not a midge in sight. Cora had her usual swim in the Loch and is now sound asleep.
