Hi  CC site is a affiliated site it is quite a big site With quite lot of static vans so I would say kids wont be stuck for friends,   Not much to do in Granton itself  but quite a nice town only 1/4 ml from site where you can get a bar meal where kids are welcome.  Must Does Loads   RSPB Osprey Boat o Garton.  Highland Wild life park just north of Kingussie on A9. also Loads in Aviemore.  The Loch at Glenmore nice beach on your way to sky centre. Stop at small Cafe just beside Forest camp site where you can sit and eat and watch Red Squirrels only a few feet away.  But the must do for kids + adults is Landmark at Carrbridge. You are in Whisky country so in a rainy day take one of there tours  I could go on and on this is all within a range of 20 miles of the site, I  hope this is of some help. You really need more than a week but hope you have a really great time, Enjoy your Holiday.

Hi Frit17,

We've stayed here lots of times and going again in the summer. The playarea onsite is excellent and the site lends itself to kids cycling safely too.

In addition to all of Kito's excellent suggestions :-

There's a good play park at the far end of Grantown, easily walkable and also a leisure centre with pool. There's also the Strathspey steam railway ( they have a website ). Down by the river, there's a little beach bit, with soft clean sand.

For rainy days, there's an indoor playarea attached to the Hilton Hotel at Coylumbrudge, on the way to Loch Morlich, or if you've got alot of money, the McDonald Resort has a swimming pool and indoor / outdoor playareas.

There's also the Cairngorm mountain railway, again it has a website.

Have a great time, Alex.

HI  I Did not want to put you off last night When are you going if it's in the summer I  would recommend you take MIDGE HOODS for the kids. IT all depends on the individual.  Me and my son of 9 dont really suffer a lot but wife REALLY suffers,   Dont reley on the Fly screens on your van THEY go straight through them.  They are at their worst in damp conditions,  Also take AVON Skin cream. Look on the Web for exact one   Google  Avon Midge.

It's a nice site, but very little to do without travelling a bit and with the high cost of fuel, that adds a fair bit to the holiday!

There is a disused railway past the site that provides a good long distance cycle path down to the coast.

Midges aren't nearly as bad in the area you are going to as on the West Coast of Scotland where you just about get eaten alive so don't worry about them too much.
