Hi Guys the family are planning our summer holidays now and quite fancy a these 2 regions which we have never been to.
We will be travelling down from Scotland so a half way stop over will be needed to.
I have 2 kids aged 12/5 with small dog so near a lovely beach would be great and lively place also.
If any1 can guide us to "the perfect sit" LOL
Please do thanks in advance

Hi, if your going to Dorset, I'd recommend Charmouth, a lovely beach, great for fossil hunting which normally entertains the kids, plus it's dog friendly (but restricted in May-Sept) There is a lovely site called Seadown Caravan Park http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2121
You say you want lively - as much as Charmouth is lovely & one of my favourite places it doesn't do "lively". We also found Seadown quite unfriendly but read the reviews.
If you want lively in Dorset I woud suggest you look around Bournemouth or Weymouth.
In Devon I would suggest the Devon Riviera Torquay etc.
As we don't do lively sites I cannot recommend specifics.
If you want a lively site with loads to do for the kids i'd recommend River Dart Country Park in Devon. Its a drive to the coast (about 12 miles i think) but in the 4 nights we were there we never left the site. You get a good mixture of country/riverside walks, a good bar serving good food and loads of outdoor activities that our kids loved including a small lake and beach. Its expensive high season but you could just stay a few nights then move closer to the coast. Worth a look.

We also like Seadown and they're also quite reasonably priced. However, it is a fairly quiet park.
I can also recommend East Fleet Farm at Chickerell, Weymouth (sorry I don't know how to do a link [IMG]http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/forum_images/smiley9.gif" width=25 alt=24>) - put it into campsite search and it should pop up.
------------- 2025
April: Tucker's Grave nr Radstock
Early-Mid May: The Cowal Peninsula + Isle of Bute
Hi, Ladram Bay in Devon is a lovely park, good entertainment and direct access to the beach, although the beach is stoney and we didnt use it much! There is a lovely long sandy beach about a 15 minute drive away. My two children age 3 and 10 loved this site.
Hillhead CC site at Brixham is a nice, family site. It's not on a beach but has sea views and is a car's drive away from the coast. Not far from Paignton or Dartmouth. Some lovely beaches around.
Site has onsite shop (really well stocked), bar, restaurant (that allows dogs inside) kids games room, outdoor pool with lifeguard, play area, large recreation field and dog exercise area.
Please plan your day/time of arrival well if you're heading to South Devon - the roads coming into Torquay and South Devon will be heaving on peak days.
