Just asking for a bit of help in deciding,,my family and I would like to go somewhere to test our new kalahari 10 tent,,trouble is, because of the weather,,we could not decide,,and dont want my kids to be bored if it is pouring though, so a bit of place to drive would be ideal.
So will it be better to go down or up? thnking of Blair Castle Caravan and Camping site or Eksdale in Cumbria,,
Please help,, dont want to waste my long weekend here in the house and if i cant decide,,hubby will just play black ops here in the house,,

If it is this weekend you are wanting to go. you might be limited in the choice of sites you would have. Bank holiday weekends get booked up really quickly, but there may be space somewhere, especially if you dont want electric hook up.
Either of the two places can be dodgy with the weather, but then nowhere is exempt these days.
You call the two sites you mentioned, to see if they have availability.
This weekend isn't a holiday for us, don't know about rest of Scotland, we've got 6th June off. Might be luckier finding something up here in Scotland. Hope you get something.

Hi,
could try Argyll (cowal) theres great scenery and some nice secluded beaches, also only an hours drive to Glasgow. We took the kids last year, on the one rainy day we went to Xscape and the indoor ski slope, think theres also a theme park just south of Glasgow.
Could be a problem at this late stage in getting either of your choices. Agree you need to check availability (especially if you need EHU), that may make make your mind up for you. Don't know Blair Castle but Eskdale is lovely (see attached photo). Showers are lovely but can imagine there could be problems if the site is full. There is a site just down the road (Fisherground which may have availability but has very limited EHU).
Good luck and hope the weather improves.

Hi, I have this dilemma often - and I am from Scotland. I love the Highlands and I love the lake district. Re the Eskdale site above, it is my favourite in the lakes. We were there last year at this time and the site was full but no problems using the spotless facilities. Also, my hubby said it is the best, cleanest chemical point he has ever seen LOL. Fisherground is a couple of miles down the road and also in a nice bit but I prefer Eskdale, mainly because of it is within walking distance to 3 child/dog friendly pubs which serves lovely meals, the smashing walks direct from the site and the views. There is also the wee mini-railway 5 minutes walk from site that takes you to Ravenglass.
I've not been to Blair Castle but it gets very good reviews on here.

Hi. We stayed at Blair Castle last weekend and had a great time. The weather was not that great but the kids enjoyed themselves. The playpark is good and there is a games room which my eldest son used. I would not let the weather put you off. Just get out there and make the most of it.
