Hiya, there is a site in Glendridding, Gillside Farm that has direct access to the paths to Helvellyn, you can either take Striding Edge, or walk around this. Striding Edge is hairy if you are new to hiking.
If you want an easier route up Helvellyn, then I would would suggest camping Keswick way, maybe one of the castlerigg sites and parking at Wythburn Church
