Last year while we were sheltering from the rain and wind in Devon in June, we watched the BBC weather to find that the south east was sweltering in warmth and sunshine so we thought this year we might try that side of the country for a couple of weeks in June/July. We haven't really tried the east very much; we have been to Cambridge a few times and stayed at Sandringham for a few days many years ago but don't really know anything about the area.
We like peace and quiet on site, but we also enjoy being not too far from some interesting towns/villages. We went to Great Yarmouth many years ago and it wasn't our cup of tea, too 'all singing, all dancing' we prefer somewhere quieter. We liked Sandringham but being right up in the north of the county, it was not very central for seeing around. I have had a look on the campsite search and there are so many sites I don't know where to start so if I could narrow down a nice area to stay which is within a decent radius of interesting places to go for days out, then I can start to look for a site. If anyone has lots of experience of Norfolk or even Suffolk and could give us a bit of info about nice locations that might suit a couple of mature adults with no children who like walks, interesting towns/villages, small independent shops, National Trust type places etc then I would be extremely grateful. I don't want to pick what might look like a great site but then find there is not much of interest nearby.

we use a site called paradise uptopia at a place called lyng, near dereham, we find its not too far from anywhere norfolk wise, coast if you want it or the broads too, lovely site set around a lake
We have been going to Deers Mead for a number of years, and absolutely love the area. The site itself is adults only and really quiet and the facilities are immaculate, possibly the best showers we've ever seen.
Lovely places to visit and some fantastic country pubs with exceptional food.
The area is well served for supermarkets, and the towns and villages have lovely one off shops.

Living in Suffolk I can suggest Field Farm Campsite (It has fishing ponds but hidden out of the way)https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=6741
It's in a nice location central to many interesting places that are not at all singing, dancing. Too many quaint places to visit but I'd suggest looking at Lavenham (Witchfinder General), Pin Mill (Swallows and Amazons), Ramsholt, Sutton Hoo and Woodbridge (The Dig) Bury St Edmunds Abbey Gardens.
Oh, and if you like seals, you should go to the beach at Horsey, there are usually loads. Our Harry Hound tried to get in the sea with them, I am not a fan of the beaches though, prefer rocky coves.

The CMC site at Cromer has become a regular place for us over the years as its a relatively easy walk into Cromer and there are regular buses between Cromer and Sheringham which stop outside the site. If you want peace and quiet perhaps avoid August/early September as there was a funfair next door to the site this year. Other times of the year fine.
We lived in Norfolk for 15 years and go back to see friends quite often. We usually stay at C&CC Sandringham though as our friends are near there. Three generations back my family came from Suffolk, although both my father and I were born in North London.

Thanks for the ideas so far. Deers Mead looks a nice site and not too big which suits us. I’ll have to investigate the area and see if it looks like it might appeal to us.
I have friends and family in East Anglia whom I visit usually once every 2 years.
Last visit was earlier this year and I stayed at CAMC's club site in Thetford Forest not far from Munford.
It was VERY peaceful, however, mobile signal was very poor and it has no facilities except for CDPs and fresh water.
Therefore, one needs to have one's own facilities.
I forgot to bring my Aquaroll and Wastemaster as I forgot I needed them. Good job my van has her own facilities, just needed to visit the MH service point a couple of times, that's all.

Keep the ideas coming!
From Deers Mead it’s easy to visit, Cromer, Sherringham, Holt. (Take the steam train from Sherringham to Holt) Wells is lovely too. Holkam Hall, and nearby beach. BlicklingEstate, Felbrigg Hall. So much to do, I can guarantee you won’t be bored.

We usually visit all those places from Sandringham too. I agree Wells is lovely, it's one of our favourites along that coast. Shame they took away the miniature train to the beach though.
Dears Mead does sound good, I wouldn't mind trying it sometime, but most of our friends live very close to Sandringham.
Just taken a look at Dears Mead website, and we won't be visiting there anytime soon as it's way too expensive for us. Sandringham is quite a bit cheaper but even that is right on our limit when we went there back in July.
We've stayed a number of times at Cake and Ale, Leiston. Fully serviced pitches, decent size, Adults only area if you want that and the amenities are superb, top quality and always super clean. Had a bar open in the season as well.
