Not sure where else to post this, apologies if it's the wrong place.
I just noticed that Hillfoot, Dungiven which is a small site, has twice as many reviews as much more popular sites such as Delamont C&CC site and Ballyness, which was suspicious. When I looked closer at the first page of reviews there were 9 reviews of 10 stars from reviewers who had only made a single site review. These userids haven't posted on the forums either it seems. The trend continues on subsequent pages.
Beyond suspicious, I would say ?
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I find many reviews by one-time posters, who don’t post on the forums either. I have very occasionally found a review that’s obviously been put into the wrong site (reference to a cliff top walk for an inland site, criticism of the on-site pub when there isn’t one etc). I don’t think there’s anything malicious, just a few people not familiar with the directory, or not being careful enough, who are mis-posting. No need for conspiracy theories.
If there’s obviously an error, just use the Contact Us page to tell the webmaster about it & they’ll move it or delete a duplicate or do whatever’s needed. Or if you’re just suspicious about something dodgy (like this site), just tell them.
Mervyn has quite a fan club? But what many of the reviews don't tell us in any detail is what the site is like! I am more inclined to go by the reviews of those that post regularly rather than the one off's. I have rarely been to a campsite which warrants 10 out of 10 although some come close.

It's a very nice site and much cheaper than anywhere else for miles around and has a lovely owner. That's all I know.
Yours was one of the few reviews I'd take seriously.

Quite how a small site in a less popular area can garner twice the number of reviews of the most popular sites near the Giants Causeway is a real mystery. And if you believe that I have a bridge for sale
We actually found Mervyn a little too attentive when we were setting up, but that's just his way I suppose. Still don't understand the purpose of the OP's post.

I am the OP. The point is, the most popular sites in the most popular areas should get far more reviews than small sites in less popular areas, and it's the opposite here. Add to that the fact that 9 out of the first 10 reviews are similar, are for 10 stars and are by users with no other activity. If that isn't all highly suspicious then I kind of give up.
I had a look at them, and they are all written in exactly the same form, spacing etc. Maybe some of them were there together and all wrote a review together. But I couldn't really say for sure.
I read 2 identical reviews for one site, obviously together; there were only 10 reviews so the duplicate contributed to the overall score more than a duplicate amongst 100 reviews. I used the Contact Us page & one of the duplicates was removed.
Let the UKCS folks know your concerns about the Hillfoot reviews & let the Webmaster decide if they’re valid or not.
I have just used the "Contact Us" page to point out that there is a site called The Anchor, which is in Co. Kerry, shown on the same map page as Hillfoot. Ireland has shrunk!
