I know this is probably an impossible find but I have a 10yr old train enthusiast, we recently went to Paignton for the day and he was so happy that while he played on the beach he could watch trains. I have looked in that area but I couldn’t find a camp site were we could see trains and beach be in walking distance. Does anyone have any recommendations please? Thanks

Welcome to UKCS. That’s a great brief!
I assume you’re keeping to that area only, for now. The usual answer would be to try the “site search”, but you’re just on the forum X & still learning your way around. Hopefully someone will help.
Further afield is Hendre Mynach in Barmouth is sandwiched between beach and hillside with a traintrack to cross to get to the beach, this sounds ideal for him (not been but seen the site as not my cup of tea)
When you are ready for a longer trip, try Bolton le Sands. Red Bank Farm camp site is on the shore, and the west coast main line is on the other side, the trains can be seen and heard from the back field. And if you walk back along the shore towards Morecambe, at Hest Bank there is a crossing over the line from the shore to the road.
Another thought...not near a beach but Broadway CAMC site is right on the tracks for the GWSR, station short walk away and goes to Cheltenham. I'm sure he'd be impressed with that.

How about near Corfe Castle? You can take the steam train to Swanage - it was a life saver after the ladies of the party were in full revolt over the somewhat more arduous than expected cycle into Swanage and we were able to put the bikes in the guard's van and take the steam train back.
Ashurst in the New Forest is next to a line, and has a station just down the road.
Hollands Wood is quite close to Brockenhurst Station, but I can't remember if you can see the train. The line down to Lymington from Brockenhurst is a delight.
i can second Hendry Mynach, and also Dawlish Warren, been to both, Hendre, the trains run alongside the campsite and the beach, but they start at about 7am, Dawlish you can watch the trains from the beach, with campsites not too far away inland
