First time camper looking for a nice easy location for family with two small kids (both under 5). Oakdene looked good, anybody been there and can pass on useful advice or recommend somewhere better. Thanks

Went to Oakdene a couple of years ago..wouldn't go again i'm afraid, packed in like sardines!
Merley Court in Wimborne, Dorset..brilliant! Alao the Hoburne sited are good in my opinion. Caravans only at Bashley Park, but tents allowed at Cotwolds Park.
We went last Whitsun and were in the overspill field. We had pleanty of room for your largish tent....the main site is a bit more cramped. The swimming pool is fine and useful if the weather gets iffy, there is plenty to do in the area. The supermarket on site is fine for basics. Our children were 5 and 8 at the time and enjoyed themselves. there is a nice little park attached to the pub.
Washing facilities were in a portacabin but were cleaned twice a day and were spotless when we were there.
There is a kids club if that is your sort of thing and they do things like a talent night.
The first couple of nights were fine, a large group arrived towards the end of our stay and were very noisy, but that seemed to be a bit of a one off.
I would go again, but it isn't for you if you want a 'back to nature' experience

Camped at Oakdene end of July for a short break with my boys (7 & 5) on a serviced pitch close to all the facilities. Had a really enjoyable time although the pitch was full of rocks making it almost impossible to drive the peg in.
Pool complex good albeit a tad small for the peak numbers, did not use bar as preferred pubs in and around New Forest. Shop well stocked but expensive, Sainsbury's and Tesco nearby. Facilites very clean with a constant stream of cleaners on site. Showers could do with somewhere to put your clothes as water tends to flow freely from the cubicle.
At the end of the day the kids enjoyed it which is half the battle, and with the hot weather the outdoor pool is a winner.
Stayed at Oakdene in a static . Also packed in like sardenes , complained about a number of things , & they moved us to a luxery private van , but wouldnt return .
If your looking for a site that way , Shorefield is nice , also Naish , though im not sure if they have tourers.
Had the dubious pleasure of staying at Oakdene a couple of years ago and I would not go back either! Place seemed a bit run down and we were all packed together!
However I have heard that the park has changed hands and is now run by the same people who run shorefields!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
