Has anybody been camping at Sandy Balls. Brochure says that pitches are on gravel.  What is this like to camp on ? How do you peg the tent down ? Does it ruin the ground sheet ? Is it a good site to go campint to ?

You should find all the info you need.

For camping on the hardstandings they will rent you artifical grass matts, which will protect your tent. You will need rock pegs though to secure it.

According to the brochure, the name comes from the description of the dome-shaped sand and gravel outcrops on the centre's western boundary!! Yeh whatever!.....I booked last week for July and just got in ...so good luck!
