I'd endorse the suggestion of Chateau du Gandspette too. We've stayed there at least twice a year, every year, for the last fifteen years! Standards are always high, facilities are clean, and the older block has been comprehensively upgraded. The new block is of an extremely high standard. Pitches are all of a good size, though some are not level 'sideways'. There are plenty of electricity bollards so nowhere is too far from the nearest. The restaurant is not 'gourmet' but serves good tasty food, at not unreasonable prices. It's been extended recently, so is obviously proving popular, and was full when we were there. Make a reservation if you want a meal, in plenty of time.

We stayed at Drancourt on our very first trip to France in a mobile home. It was great lovely pool that can be covered and a bar in the chateau with a room off it where the kids could watch DVD's (they loved it). St Varley is really nice with boat trips and good restauarnts. We really enjoyed it and it was the begining of a long running love affair with french campsites.
We have stayed at a lovely little site called Le Canchy several times on route in and out. We really like it because its so friendly.
They have a very small covered pool and a small play area and a great little bar that serves good food. Its only about an hour from Calais in the countryside. Its nearer to Boulogne and we went to the beach there last year for a day. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=6351
Mind you - I've just looked at the website and the pool isn't mentioned. You might want to ask them if the pool is no longer there.

can anybody tell me how long the drive from calais is to drancourt as we are off down to bauyeux next year and looking at a one night stop on the way, the site looks nice but will not be on it long.
------------- A tent is like a newborn born baby..... to some they all look the same..... but if its yours it's beautiful.
