Tethers end beat me to it.

I went there last year with my kids aged 9 and 12 and they had a great time, and so did I.

Lots of activities for teenagers.  Right on the river, great facilities but not a site for tranquil silence!

I have not found noise intrusive there - sure where there are a few 100 people enjoying themselves its not dead quiet but its a lot quieter than you would get on the coast.

The setting must be as tranquil as you will find - right next to the river with no sound of trains or a road.

St Avit Loisirs has been highly recommended by friends with teenagers.   There are some reviews on here, and you can also link directly to the site's own website.

Have a look on the campsite search on this website.  Click on the map of France, then Aquitaine, and you'll get pages of sites to search through, lots of them with reviews from members of these forums.

Another way would be to get the Eurocamp and Canvas Holidays brochures, and have a look for sites in the Dordogne, and especially their 'Sites recommended for teenagers' - and then have a look at the websites of those sites to see what you think.  It's how we found sites when our sons were teenagers - making sure there were other British teenagers on site - and we had some great holidays.
